Job Responsibilities:
The Process Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the robustness and stability of the EBM process by providing technical leadership, supporting operational decision-making, verifying the correct execution of process controls, and driving continuous improvement through structured audits and system feedback.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical quality arm for the EBM process.
- Support production, inspectors, and laboratory teams in the interpretation and application of quality requirements.
- Lead product disposition decisions based on technical criteria and risk analysis.
- Ensure fast, accurate, and responsible responses to critical quality situations.
- Ensure that controls defined in Process Flow, PFMEA, and Control Plan are properly implemented in the process.
- Verify correct execution of inspection, measurement, and monitoring methods.
- Ensure operators and inspectors fully understand and apply process controls.
- Plan and perform periodic PFMEA and Control Plan audits on the shop floor.
- Evaluate whether all controls are effectively in place and functioning as defined.
- Identify gaps between documentation and operational practice.
- Report audit results and identified risks.
- Lead structured feedback of PFMEA and Control Plan based on audits, deviations, customer complaints, and lessons learned.
- Define, track, and validate improvement action plans.
- Ensure effectiveness of implemented actions.
- Lead root cause analysis using structured methodologies (5 Why, Ishikawa, 8D, A3) and using advanced statistical techniques (probability, capability, etc.)
- Define and follow up corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure elimination of systemic causes.
- Promote a prevention-focused Build in Quality
- Develop thorough familiarization with Quality and Environmental Management Systems and manufacturing processes
- Work closely with internal Engineering and Manufacturing team members
- Participate in PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities for internal components
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) required
- Advanced coursework in manufacturing, quality, or process improvement preferred
- Certified IATF 16949 Internal Auditor preferred
- Certification or training in Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA) preferred
- Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Training or certification in problem-solving methods (8D, Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma)
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) preferred
- Experience with continuous improvement and process optimization methods
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance within a manufacturing environment required
- Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with production processes, machining, or manufacturing operations
- Previous Quality Technician or related quality role experience preferred
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and data analysis for quality improvement
- Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and interpretation of engineering drawings
