Associate Scientist - Strain Engineering

Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Associate Scientist to join the Strain Development team within Plant Health Research. This role focuses on engineering microbial strains to support industrial fermentation and the development of new sustainable products. You will work closely with scientists across disciplines to advance both development and early-stage discovery projects.
Location: Hørsholm, Denmark (European Innovation Centre)
Main Responsibilities:
- Construct and optimise yeast strains using molecular biology techniques.
- Support small-scale cultivation experiments to evaluate strain performance.
- Document experimental work in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN).
- Analyse results and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
- Identify and implement improvements to experimental methods and workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strain development projects.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Mandatory Requirements:
- BSc or MSc in biotechnology, microbiology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. cloning, PCR).
- Practical experience working with microorganisms in a laboratory setting.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
