The Senior Staff Accountant performs a variety of duties to support the accurate and timely financial reporting functions of Full Sail, LLC. This includes maintaining accurate records for fixed assets, capital leases, projects-in-progress, inventory, and reconciling the related general ledger accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for fixed assets accounting and transactions, including placing assets in service, ensuring proper life, location, category, and lease tag as applicable, monthly and annual reconciliations, and research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Primary responsibility for capital lease accounting and transactions, including providing supporting documentation and recording new leases, accounting for current and long-term portions of lease obligations, monthly and annual reconciliations, and research and resolve discrepancies.  
  • Primary responsibility for inventory accounting to ensure inventory balances are properly stated, including monthly and annual reconciliations, and research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Responsibility for closing reconciliations and adjustments for select accounts in support of the monthly and annual closing process.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for select accounts.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide audit support and other document requests support as and when needed.
  • Assist with other accounting functions as needed.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of Full Sail University.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of company and personnel information.

  • Adheres to company attendance standards.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Prior higher education accounting experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  

  • CPA License or eligible to sit for CPA an advantage

Computer/Equipment Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains required
  • Experience with Workday or similar Accounting ERP System preferred

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alphanumeric data into a computerized system.
