- Design and govern highly resilient data-at-rest and data-in-motion architectures capable of processing 100+ million records, delivering high-throughput and ensuring performance, scalability, resiliency, and consistency across distributed systems.
- Build reusable enterprise data architecture patterns, standards, and reference architectures to guide delivery teams
- Establish and maintain data modeling standards, metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality control processes.
- Schema design for high-volume OLTP systems, including normalization and denormalization strategies
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, data engineers, and business partners to ensure data architecture aligns with enterprise objectives and business needs.
- Evaluate and recommend database technologies and design patterns based on fit-for-purpose criteria.
- Data Life Cycle Management including data retention, archival, and purging policies and strategies
- Transaction management, rollback, and recovery strategies
- Experience with distributed and horizontally scalable databases
- Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, DevOps, and product teams review, challenge, and guide design decisions
- Performance and Scalability /Reliability experience is a plus such as data partitioning and sharding strategy, query optimization, and indexing
- Connection pooling, concurrency control, and transaction isolation
- Implementation and enforcement of data access controls, PII, encryption, and security policies
- Contribute to the company’s data strategy, advancing data literacy, ownership, and governance.
- Partner with cloud, AI/ML, and analytics teams to ensure data structures support advanced analytics and AI initiatives.
- Promote domain-driven design and data mesh principles where appropriate to support distributed ownership and scalability.
- Lead and implement enterprise capabilities such as Master Data Management (MDM), data lineage, data quality management, establishing governance frameworks, standards, and tooling to ensure data accuracy, traceability, and trust at scale.
- Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with global teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years of data architecture and modeling experience across transactional and operational systems.
- Proven expertise in relational data modeling (OLTP, OLAP) and modern data technologies (NoSQL, streaming, data lakehouse).
- Strong background in retail industry data and business processes (e.g., merchandising, inventory, supply chain, store operations, customer data).
- Experience with data management support including data governance, lineage, metadata management, and data quality frameworks, etc.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and AI/ML data enablement.
- Deep understanding of conceptual, logical, and physical modeling, schema optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner effectively with technical and business teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
A pragmatic architect who can balance long-term enterprise vision with immediate delivery needs, communicate effectively with business partners, and guide teams in applying modern data architecture patterns that enable trusted, high-quality, and reusable data across the enterprise.
