Job Description

Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human

Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.

This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.

Okta is looking for a Senior Developer Content Advocate to join the team responsible for the Auth0 Blog, one of the industry’s most respected resources for developers. We don’t just document features; we teach developers how to build secure, scalable, and modern applications.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex identity standards and practical implementation. You will work with a global network of engineers, product managers, and developer advocates to create high-quality, code-centric tutorials and deep-dive technical articles. Crucially, you will also act as a sensor for the industry, keeping a finger on the pulse of the developer community to ensure our content is timely, relevant, and part of active conversations on social media and forums.

If you are a developer who likes writing, loves deconstructing complex problems, and wants to drive the adoption of modern identity security, this is the place for you.

Core Responsibilities

  • Community Listening & Trend Response: Dedicate time to actively monitoring developer conversations on platforms like Twitter/X, Reddit, and Hacker News. You will identify emerging trends in identity/security and mentions of Auth0, converting these insights into immediate opportunities. This could range from drafting a thoughtful reply or a "hot-take" blog post to commissioning a video explainer or routing critical feedback to the Product/Marketing teams.
  • Create Developer-First Content: Plan, research, and write high-quality technical tutorials, deep dives, and "how-to" articles for the Auth0 Blog that help developers solve real-world identity problems.
  • Content Curation & Editorial Review: Act as an editor and curator for internal engineers, advocates, and guest contributors. You will validate their technical claims, test their code snippets, and edit their drafts to ensure high editorial standards.
  • Multimedia Production: Expand our educational reach by identifying opportunities for and producing video content (screencasts, shorts, or explainers) that complements written tutorials.
  • Manage Content Lifecycle: Own your editorial calendar from concept to publication and distribution. This includes proactively updating high-traffic legacy posts to ensure code samples and advice remain fresh.
  • Collaborate Strategically: Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to translate complex feature releases into compelling narratives and practical use cases.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in technical writing, developer marketing, or developer advocacy, with a strong portfolio of public-facing technical content and experience as a software developer working on production level code.
  • Social Fluency: Demonstrated ability to navigate and engage with developer communities (e.g., X, Reddit, Hacker News). You should be comfortable spotting trends and engaging in public technical discourse authentically.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and understand code. You must be comfortable working with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks to create and validate tutorial code samples.
  • Communication: Exceptional written English with a clear, explanatory, and empathetic style that resonates with a developer audience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with Identity protocols (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML) and web security best practices.
  • SEO Knowledge: Experience writing content optimized for search engines without sacrificing technical depth.
