About the role

At NewYork‑Presbyterian (NYP), analytics developers power data‑driven decisions across a leading academic health system. As a Senior Analytics Developer on the Data Shared Services (DSS) team, you will partner with clinical, business, and quality leaders to deliver governed data products and decision support that improve access, quality, equity, and operational performance across our hospitals and affiliated medical schools.

Design analytics solutions and deliver insights that inform business and clinical decision-making. Partner directly with stakeholders to translate complex business needs into governed analytics and mentors junior team members.

What you’ll do

  • Design and deliver reusable Power BI datasets and dashboards; optimize performance and drive adoption across stakeholder groups.
  • Guide DSS engineers in designing and optimizing scalable Snowflake data models to support complex analytics use cases
  • Maintain clear metric definitions and drive consistent metadata and lineage practices in Alation. Ensure consistency and reliability of metrics across datasets and dashboards
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business processes and translates ambiguous needs into solutions and actionable analytics; thinking creatively and planning strategically
  • Lead root cause data quality analysis and remediation design; feed defects to stewards
  • Collaborate with our engineering and data science teams; improve reliability.
  • Drive medium to large scoped initiatives, mentor analytics developers, and contribute to standards for modeling, visualization, and SDLC; collaborate with other analytics developers to eliminate redundancy.
  • Own delivery of features and datasets; coordinate cross‑team dependencies with light oversight. Improve team standards and promote adoption tactics (certified datasets, usage telemetry).
  • Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Biomedical Informatics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, Biostatistics, Health Policy, Statistics, Biometrics) or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of analytics/BI experience preferably in healthcare delivery, payer, or life sciences.
  • SQL and dimensional modeling (or equivalent).
  • Power BI experience: DAX, M, semantic models, RLS, performance tuning (or equivalent).
  • Epic Module Certification (Cogito) upon hire or within 6 months.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Epic Clarity data models or other clinical/financial systems; familiarity with HL7 FHIR, ICD 10/CPT/LOINC a plus.
  • Demonstrated PHI/PII handling and HIPAA awareness
  • Practical data governance & metadata management with Alation or equivalent; strong documentation habits.
  • Cloud data experience with Azure/AWS or similar (Git/Azure DevOps); hands on with Snowflake.
  • Scripting for analysis/automation (Python or R); statistics/experiment design familiarity.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools and modern development environments to generate, refine, and optimize analytical logic (e.g., SQL, DAX) and to streamline analytics workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into day-to-day work to accelerate analysis, generate insights, and enhance communication with stakeholders
