Position Summary

The Senior Finance Director, Laboratory Plastics Essentials serves as the strategic finance leader for a $750M global business focused on essential laboratory plastics products and solutions. This role is a key member of the business leadership team and partners closely with the President and cross-functional leaders to drive profitable growth, optimize margin, improve cash flow, and support strategic decision-making across commercial, operational, and innovation priorities.

The ideal candidate combines strong financial leadership with business acumen, operational rigor, and the ability to influence at the executive level. This leader will own all aspects of finance for the business, including planning, forecasting, performance management, pricing, capital allocation, investment analysis, and financial controls, while building a high-performing finance organization that enables growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance Leadership

  • Serve as the lead finance partner to the President and business leadership team for the Laboratory Plastics Essentials business.
  • Shape and influence business strategy by providing financial insights on growth opportunities, portfolio decisions, pricing, productivity, and resource allocation.
  • Drive long-range planning and strategic initiatives that support revenue growth, margin expansion, and improved return on investment.
  • Translate market, customer, and operational trends into actionable business recommendations.

Business Performance Management

  • Lead the annual operating plan, monthly forecasting, and long-range planning processes for the $750M business.
  • Provide clear, timely, and actionable analysis of revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, working capital, and cash flow performance.
  • Establish robust KPI reporting and business review rhythms to improve visibility, accountability, and decision-making.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify risks and opportunities and implement corrective actions to deliver commitments.

Commercial and Pricing Finance

  • Partner with commercial and marketing leadership on pricing strategy, customer and channel profitability, sales performance analytics, and revenue growth management.
  • Evaluate growth investments, go-to-market initiatives, customer programs, and commercial productivity to ensure strong returns.
  • Support product portfolio decisions through analysis of mix, margin, lifecycle, and regional/customer trends.

Operations and Supply Chain Finance

  • Partner with operations, supply chain, sourcing, and manufacturing leaders to improve productivity, inventory performance, and cost competitiveness.
  • Provide financial leadership on manufacturing efficiency, standard costing, absorption, procurement savings, freight, and supply chain optimization.
  • Support capital planning and investment decisions for capacity expansion, automation, network changes, and operational improvements.

Financial Governance and Controls

  • Ensure sound financial controls, compliance, and disciplined financial processes across the business.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly close activities in partnership with corporate finance and controllership.
  • Maintain strong governance over forecasting assumptions, investment approvals, and financial reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal control requirements.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing finance team across the finance function.
  • Build organizational capability, strengthen succession pipelines, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach finance talent to operate as business partners and trusted advisors to functional leaders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including significant experience supporting a manufacturing business.
  • Prior experience leading finance for a sizable business, business unit, or region with complex P&L responsibility.
  • Strong background in FP&A, business partnering, commercial finance, and operational finance.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior business leaders to drive profitable growth and performance improvement.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities, with the ability to convert data into strategic insights.
  • Experience leading teams and developing talent across multiple finance disciplines.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial, operational, and strategic issues into clear, concise recommendations for senior executives and cross-functional leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent advanced qualification.
  • Experience in life sciences, laboratory products, medical devices, diagnostics, consumables, or industrial/manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Knowledge of ERP and planning systems such as SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with pricing analytics, portfolio management, and manufacturing cost accounting.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Pennsylvania is $175,100.00–$233,500.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
