Job Description
Finance Operations Accounting & Analysis (FOAA) is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Inventory Control Senior Analyst to join our Buy & Sell Inventory Control Team. This role is critical to ensuring accurate inventory reconciliation, establishing robust financial controls, and supporting operational excellence for the Amazon Funded Buy & Sell (AFBS) program. The successful candidate will focus on reporting, walkfile reconciliation support, quality assurance, and operational process improvement while working with SAP-based systems and cross-functional teams.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead weekly and monthly Walkfile reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy between Component Inventory Activity (CIA) and Roll Forward Reports (RFR), maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
• Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting dashboards and metrics to provide visibility into inventory control operations, including open items tracking, reconciliation accuracy, and SLA compliance
• Establish and monitor quality assurance controls to validate proper inventory activity in SAP system, ensuring data integrity across all transactions
• Collaborate with Rack Integrators (RIs), DB Schenker (DBS) hubs, and internal stakeholders to resolve inventory discrepancies and ensure timely issue resolution
• Prepare and analyze operational metrics for Weekly Business Reviews (WBRs) and Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) with AWS Finance and Supply Chain teams
• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement automation solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention
• Support month-end close activities including backflush review, gain/loss reporting, and manual journal entry preparation
• Maintain documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to established controls and processes
• Maintain operational desk by working a portfolio of RIs Walkfile reconciliation
A day in the life
As an Inventory Control Senior Analyst, you will spend time analyzing reconciliation reports, identifying discrepancies between SAP inventory records and partner data, and working with cross-functional teams to resolve open items. Throughout the week, you'll prepare detailed walkfile reconciliations, validate data accuracy, and ensure all inventory movements are properly documented and controlled. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying automation opportunities and developing reporting tools that provide real-time visibility into inventory operations. During month-end close periods, your focus shifts to ensuring all reconciliations are completed accurately and on time, supporting the accounting team with critical financial data.

The FOAA Buy & Sell Inventory Control Team is a dynamic, growing organization that plays a crucial role in AWS's supply chain operations. Our team in Costa Rica partners closely with AWS Supply Chain, Finance, and Central Accounting teams to manage inventory control for high-value server rack components across ~35 Rack Integrator locations and 4 DB Schenker warehousing hubs. We are at the forefront of implementing Project Luca, a transformative SAP-based system that is revolutionizing how AWS manages its Buy & Sell program. - 5+ years of experience in inventory reconciliation, financial controls, or accounting operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, data analysis)
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies and root causes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent professional experience in inventory control, accounting operations, or financial analysis- 5+ years of experience in inventory reconciliation, financial controls, or accounting operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, data analysis)
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies and root causes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
