Purpose

 As a member of the Student Organizations team, the Student Organizations Graduate Assistant will play an essential role in supporting student organizations by assisting with indoor room and outdoor space reservations and providing guidance throughout the event planning process. This position involves working closely with your supervisor and student groups to reserve spaces, ensuring that events are in line with institutional policies and procedures. The Graduate Assistant will play a role in creating a vibrant campus environment that fosters engagement and community-building.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the managing of the student organization room reservation system process and software systems 
  • Advise student organizations regarding program planning, interpretation of univeristy policy, and risk management, including consulting on indoor and outdoor events 
  • Assist in special assignments and serve on Student Organizations, Dean of Students and Division of Student Affairs committees and teams as requested. Other related functions as assigned 

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled graduate student (taking at least 9 hours). 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest and knowledge in the development of services and programs that support registered student organizations, individual student leaders and campus involvement 
  • Ability to utilize concepts of student development in policy comprehension and administrative duties 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Proven organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills 
  • A commitment to creating an environment that is connected and where belonging for all students is considered 
  • Experience with computer hardware and software or the ability to learn applications quickly (i.e. Microsoft office suite products) 
  • Other experience/skills as relevant to specific position responsibilities 
  • Availability during the summer term 

Salary Range
$19.33 per hour

Working Conditions

  • Hands-on work in student personnel field, providing excellent work experience 

Work Shift 

  • Hours to be scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some prescheduled evening and weekend hours
