Job Description
About the role
Join us in Bengaluru as an Expert Engineer (UI Development), where you’ll take a leading role in shaping the design, architecture, and evolution of high-performance user interfaces for our Securities Finance platforms using ReactJS. These platforms are used globally by leading financial institutions and form a critical part of the client experience.
This is a senior individual contributor role for an experienced engineer who operates with a high degree of ownership and technical authority. You will be responsible not just for building UI components, but for driving frontend architecture, making key technical decisions, and ensuring solutions are scalable, performant, and aligned to complex business workflows.
You’ll work within an agile, collaborative team, where you are expected to mentor engineers, influence engineering standards, and contribute to raising the overall technical bar of the team.
What You’ll Do
- Own the design and development of complex, high-impact frontend systems using ReactJS, with a focus on scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability
- Drive frontend architecture decisions, including component design, state management, data flow, and application structure across projects
- Lead technical design discussions, clearly articulating trade-offs, constraints, and rationale behind decisions
- Partner with product, business analysts, and backend teams to translate complex, domain-heavy workflows into intuitive, robust UI solutions
- Diagnose and resolve deep performance and rendering challenges, identifying root causes and implementing scalable fixes
- Define and influence frontend engineering standards, including code quality, testing approaches, and design consistency
- Contribute to and optimise build systems and production readiness, including bundling, code splitting, caching strategies, and deployment considerations
- Act as a technical mentor and point of escalation for other engineers, supporting their development and raising the overall bar of the team
- Take full ownership of end-to-end delivery, including design, implementation, production support, and continuous improvement
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve architecture, tooling, and development processes across the frontend ecosystem
What We Need
- 7+ years of hands-on frontend engineering experience, with deep expertise in ReactJS and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Strong track record of owning or significantly contributing to frontend architecture, not just implementing features
- Deep understanding of React internals, rendering behaviour, and state management trade-offs, with the ability to explain decisions clearly
- Strong grounding in JavaScript fundamentals (e.g. closures, async behaviour, event loop) and how they impact application performance
- Proven experience diagnosing and solving real-world performance issues, with clear understanding of root causes and measurable impact
- Solid understanding of component design patterns, data flow, and scalable application structure
- Experience with build tools and bundling (e.g. Webpack, Vite), and awareness of production considerations and optimisation techniques
- Experience working on complex, client-facing B2B platforms, ideally within enterprise or regulated environments
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence engineering standards, even without formal line management
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions, trade-offs, and past work in depth
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- Consistently demonstrates deep technical understanding, able to explain systems from first principles, not just implementation
- Takes ownership of and drives frontend architecture and technical direction, influencing decisions beyond their immediate work
- Acts as a go-to technical expert, supporting and mentoring other engineers and improving overall team capability
- Identifies and resolves complex performance and scalability challenges with clear, structured approaches
- Raises the bar for code quality, design patterns, and engineering practices across the team
- Navigates ambiguity effectively, translating complex business requirements into clean, scalable, and maintainable UI solutions
