About the role

About Ramp

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $100B in annualized spend flows in and out of 50,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.

The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.

If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.

About the Role

Ramp is hiring an Indirect Tax Manager to help scale and strengthen our indirect tax function. Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will oversee indirect tax compliance and operational processes across U.S. and international jurisdictions, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, gross receipts taxes, and other indirect taxes.

This role is critical to ensuring our indirect tax framework operates effectively as the business grows. You will drive process rigor, support audit readiness, and partner cross-functionally to manage indirect tax risk while enabling continued product and revenue expansion.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee indirect tax compliance across sales and use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, and gross receipts tax jurisdictions.

  • Review taxability determinations, nexus analyses, filings, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Lead responses to indirect tax notices and audits, preparing documentation and technical support for tax positions.

  • Evaluate and enhance indirect tax processes and controls to improve scalability and compliance integrity.

  • Partner with Accounting, Legal, and Product teams to advise on indirect tax implications of new initiatives and revenue streams.

What You Need

  • Minimum 6+ years of indirect tax experience in public accounting and/or in-house corporate tax roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience with U.S. sales and use tax compliance and audit management.

  • Experience managing or coordinating international VAT/GST compliance.

  • Working knowledge of property tax and gross receipts tax regimes.

  • Experience with tax engines and ERP systems, with strong analytical and reconciliation skills.

Nice-to-Haves

  • CPA, MST, or other relevant professional certification.

  • Experience in a high-growth SaaS, fintech, or technology company.

  • Experience operating in a SOX-controlled environment.

  • Exposure to tax automation or systems optimization initiatives.

Benefits (for U.S.-based full-time employees)

  • 100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you

    • Partially covered for your dependents

    • One Medical annual membership

  • 401k (including employer match on contributions made while employed by Ramp)

  • Flexible PTO

  • Fertility HRA (up to $10,000 per year)

  • Parental Leave

  • Unlimited AI token usage

  • Pet insurance

  • Centralized home-office equipment ordering for all employees

  • Health and Wellness stipend
