Job Description
This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Journeyman UI/UX Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.
In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility, enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Primary Responsibilities:
Support design and development of user interfaces and user experiences for WDP applications and services.
Assist in creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to support UI/UX design efforts.
Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, and product teams to implement UI/UX designs into applications.
Support development of front-end components using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or similar).
Assist in conducting user research, usability testing, and feedback analysis to improve user experience.
Support implementation of UI/UX standards, design systems, and accessibility requirements (e.g., Section 508 compliance).
Contribute to improving user workflows, navigation, and interaction design across applications.
Support integration of UI components into DevSecOps pipelines for deployment and testing.
Assist in troubleshooting UI issues and supporting performance optimization of front-end applications.
Maintain UI/UX documentation, design artifacts, and style guides.
Participate in SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Basic Qualifications:
Active Secret clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 4–8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 2–6 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in human-factors principles and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Experience in at least 3 of the following:
software testing and automated test pipelines.
designing and developing enterprise-grade web applications.
modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue, or similar).
creating wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and design systems.
conducting usability testing and incorporating user feedback into design improvements.
implementing responsive design and cross-browser compatibility standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Top Secret clearance.
Experience supporting UI/UX across multi-enclave DoD environments.
Experience conducting usability testing and user research.
Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
Experience implementing design systems and accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508).
Experience supporting data visualization interfaces or analytics platforms.
Exposure to DevSecOps pipelines and front-end deployment processes.
Experience designing data visualization interfaces for analytics and AI-enabled applications.
Experience integrating UI components with RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
Experience with accessibility compliance (Section 508, WCAG).
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in Agile or SAFe environments.
