Job Description

The Combustors & Structures Lab Technician will be responsible for the set-up and operation of CNC manufacturing equipment in a low volume, high mix environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work to blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to produce development hardware
  • Perform in-process dimensional checks, including CMM operations / set up
  • Troubleshoot process issues
  • Help to create process documentation and operating instructions
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or a high school diploma/GED from an accredited school or institution
  • Manufacturing experience must specifically be machining, assembly, machine repair or inspection
  • Proficient in shop mathematics i.e. geometry and trigonometry, blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerances

Desired Characteristics

  • Prefer at least 4 years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skill
  • Manufacturing experience in CNC machining (milling, turning, EDM, and/or grinding)
  • Experience with Siemens, Okuma and Fanuc controllers
  • Experience with tooling, fixturing and machine set-ups
  • Experience with CAM/CAD, particularly Unigraphics NX
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction self-starter
  • Ability to interface with various levels of management (i.e., Design Engineering and Project) and also shop floor workforce
  • Ability to receive guidance and supervision; follow work rules, safety practices, work procedures; meet deadlines; punctuality and attendance standards, etc.
  • Ability to maintain relationships that facilitate task accomplishment; to cooperate and resolve conflicts; to recognize needs and be sensitive of others
