What You’ll Do

In this support role on AlixPartners’ Corporate Services IT Security team, you will work with members of the Information Security Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) team, other IT teams, and business partners to help deliver effective security governance, risk management, and compliance operations that support business objectives.

Known internally as Intern, this role is in Southfield, Michigan and reports to the Information Security GRC Director. This paid internship role is approximately 20 – 24 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate university coursework. Paid relocation and benefits are not available for this paid, temporary, part-time position.

  • Triage and route incoming emails in the GRC mailbox
  • Send reminders for upcoming and overdue control tests and track completion status
  • Support annual and ongoing IT/Security documentation reviews, including follow-ups with document owners
  • Maintain and clean up supplier and third-party risk records, identifying gaps or outdated information
  • Monitor collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams) for disabled or terminated users and escalate findings
  • Log, update, and follow up on compliance findings and remediation actions
  • Provide general administrative support to the GRC function: schedule meetings, maintain project plans, obtain updates from stakeholders, record decisions and compose draft summaries
  • Help document existing GRC workflows and, if interested, research simple automation or process improvement ideas to relieve manual grind

What You’ll Bring

  • Actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate from, an accredited university, preferably in an IT-related, cybersecurity, risk, or business curriculum
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written in English with the ability to deliver clear messages and collaborate effectively within and across teams
  • Good planning and organizational skills with the ability to accurately manage and track structured information with professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Dependable, process-oriented, and customer-focused mindset
  • Willingness to ask questions and learn how security governance works in practice
  • Openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
