Job Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Power BI Developer who can design and deliver complex analytical solutions using Microsoft Power BI and Fabric. Beyond report development, this role will also be responsible for the maintenance, administration, and optimization of the Power BI Tenant and Capacities, ensuring smooth platform operations for enterprise BI users. Working knowledge of Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and Lakehouse concepts will be highly desirable as the organization continues to modernize its analytics landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Power BI Development
- Develop complex, enterprise-grade Power BI reports and dashboards with strong focus on UI/UX, performance, and usability.
- Build reusable semantic models following best practices in star schema, dimensional modeling, and OneLake/Fabric integration.
- Implement advanced DAX, calculated tables, and optimized measures.
- Use incremental refresh, composite models, Direct Lake (Fabric), and performance optimization techniques.
2. Power BI Tenant & Platform Administration
- Administer the Power BI Tenant including:
- Workspace provisioning and lifecycle management
- Access and permissions aligned with governance standards
- Gateway configuration (if applicable)
- Dataflow and pipeline oversight
- Support enterprise users by providing guidance, resolving issues, and ensuring adoption of best practices.
- Monitor dataset refreshes, audit logs, lineage, and tenant-wide compliance settings.
- Ensure security implementation across RLS, OLS,ABAC, data sensitivity labels.
3. Databricks Integration (Desirable)
- Integrate Power BI with Databricks SQL Warehouse, Unity Catalog, and Lakehouse tables.
- Understand medallion architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold) and how Power BI semantic models interface with curated layers.
- Write and optimize SQL queries on Databricks; familiarity with Delta Lake and notebook workflows is a plus.
4. Collaboration & Governance
- Work with business users, data engineers, and analysts to translate needs into scalable BI solutions.
- Document semantic models, dataflows, metrics logic, and governance artifacts.
- Support enterprise BI governance frameworks, including naming conventions, certification processes etc
- Participate in CoE activities such as office hours, community support, demos, and platform enablement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience developing Power BI reports and semantic models.
- Strong hands-on experience with DAX, Power Query (M), Fabric/Power BI Service, and workspace management.
- Deep understanding of data modeling, star schema, and performance engineering.
- Proficiency with SQL and ability to work with enterprise-scale data sources.
- Experience in capacity monitoring, dataset refresh troubleshooting, and platform administration.
Desirable Skills
- Data Engineering experience with Exposure to Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and medallion architecture.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric components (Lakehouse, Pipelines, Warehouse, Direct Lake).
- Understanding of CI/CD for Power BI reports and datasets.
