Senior RF Front-End Application Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior RF Front-End Application Engineer to lead advanced research and development of RF front-end technologies. This role is highly technical, requiring deep expertise in RF design, simulation, and validation, with a focus on pushing the boundaries of performance in next-generation wireless systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Research & Development
- Drive innovation in RF front-end architectures, including PAs, LNAs, filters, tuners, and switches.
- Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and prototyping of new RF concepts.
- Investigate emerging technologies (GaN, SOI, CMOS, MEMS) for integration into front-end modules.
- Design & Simulation
- Perform system-level and circuit-level modeling using tools such as ADS, HFSS, CST, and MATLAB.
- Optimize impedance matching, linearity, noise figure, and efficiency across multiple frequency bands.
- Collaborate with antenna and baseband teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Validation & Testing
- Develop and execute rigorous test plans for RF performance characterization.
- Use advanced lab equipment (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, load-pull systems) to validate designs.
- Analyze results and iterate designs to meet stringent performance and compliance requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with silicon design, packaging, and manufacturing teams to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Provide technical input for product roadmaps and contribute to IP development.
- Document findings and publish technical reports or internal whitepapers.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in RF front-end design and R&D.
- Strong expertise in RF component design (PA, LNA, filters, switches) and system-level integration.
- Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation tools and RF measurement techniques.
- Hands-on experience with PCB layout for high-frequency circuits.
- Solid understanding of wireless communication standards (LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with advanced packaging (SiP, MCM) and thermal management.
- Knowledge of antenna design and coexistence strategies.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards (FCC, ETSI, 3GPP).
- Track record of patents, publications, or contributions to industry standards.
