Our location in Austin, TX (or Sylmar, CA) currently has an opportunity for a Global Strategy and Insights Director role. This leader will be integral to the team. He/she is responsible for establishing and leading a global function of strategy and insights. This role plays a critical role in shaping strategic direction, identifying growth opportunities, and driving short-term and long-term goals for a billion-dollar, global business. This person will also help us understand our global markets, our market share in different countries and regions, and help track our competition's developments. He/she will lead the team that drives our market research efforts to understand unmet market needs. In addition, this team gathers all the third-party data to help the global commercial teams better understanding market trends. This leader is a crucial partner to the executive leadership team as we develop our strategy for short and long-term growth. This person will be involved in organic and inorganic market growth options. He/ She will help drive strategic plans and tactically execute on the key insights this team delivers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- People Management: Lead the Global Strategy and Insights organization within the Cardiac Rhythm Management business unit, including setting goals, defining priority, hiring talents, building capabilities, and managing budget and operation to achieve business results.
- Champion a customer-centric culture; Drive cross-function, cross-region collaboration
- Product Management: Initial analysis & on-going product management of long-tail lateral flow product lines, including kill/cure/continue (lifecycle management) recommendations.
- Strategic & Business Planning: Provide strategic leadership, planning, and direction to the organization to drive growth and profitability through annual strategic planning and ongoing strategic initiatives. Guide franchise and functional plan, and ensure the alignment with BU strategy.
- Identify market opportunities that can differentiate the business from competition and enable profitable growth. Drive portfolio optimization of both new and existing products.
- Market Modeling & Forecasting: Build a consistent fact base of market size, share and growth across franchises and regions in the Abbott ID business; Drive cross-functional alignment and form the “single source of truth” for OEM, LBE, NPI and business assessments.
- Market Intelligence: Assess customer needs, conduct competitive analysis, and identify enabling products, technologies, and business levers to optimize performance and enable revenue and margin growth:
- Market research to capture customer insights and articulate market landscape, such as unmet need to refine value prop, pricing elasticity to drive commercialization, and ethnography to identify drivers and barriers for new product adoption. Experienced in Market Research management. Manage the most complex, large, or difficult data analytics and research projects. Select, and manage ongoing relationships with external research agencies and consultants to ensure the organization receives satisfactory service standards. Develops and manages contracting for data and market research.
- Competitive Intelligence to strengthen Abbott competitive positioning by capturing industry trend, stakeholder dynamics, and competitor activities in a timely and action-oriented manner, such as scenario planning (war gaming), weekly market surveillance, industry conference intelligence, and deep dive on competitors, products and critical events
- Be accountable for the budget.
- Works cross-functionally with other vital functions including Finance, Marketing, Global leaders, Commercial Excellence
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor's Degree In finance, Business Administration or related field an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Master's degree (± 18 years) MBA preferred due to the positions heavy involvement in solving business problems throughout the division, and broad-based understanding of business operations and current market environment is critical to effective performance.
- Minimum 12 years work experience
- Forecasting and planning with five years management experience. Global experience in a finance or planning capacity preferred. Project Management experience.
- Management consulting or healthcare strategy experience preferred.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience interacting effectively with Senior Management.
- Leadership and team orientation; ability to work with others and in a matrixed environment
- Knowledge and skills in Market Intelligence techniques and sales forecasting.
- Experience with advanced forecasting techniques, such as regression analysis, cluster analysis, conjoint analysis and discrete choice modeling.
- Knowledge of mathematics, statistics and PC skills around modeling needs to be strong.
- Domestic and International interface experience.

The base pay for this position is
$172,000.00 – $344,000.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
