Tech Lead – AI & Data Security Engineer (GenAI, DLP & DSPM)
Location: Dublin, Ireland

Reports To: Product Owner / Tech Lead – Application & Data Security

In this role, you will:

We are seeking a Tech Lead – AI & Data Security Engineer, a high-impact senior individual contributor who will help define and secure the future of the enterprise’s AI and data ecosystem. This role combines forward-looking strategy, deep technical expertise, and operational ownership to deliver and scale modern security capabilities across application security, data protection, and GenAI platforms.

You will own end-to-end outcomes from defining security strategy and influencing design decisions to ensuring controls are effectively deployed, continuously optimized, and delivering real business value. Operating within a Think / Act / Run model, this role requires deep technical expertise, strong cross-functional partnership, and the ability to translate emerging risk into practical, scalable solutions.

A critical component of this role is the leadership and governance of managed service providers (MSPs) supporting AI, data protection, and security operations. You will:

  • Provide technical direction, prioritization, and oversight to service providers delivering DLP, DSPM, and AI security capabilities

  • Establish clear operating models, SLAs, and performance expectations, ensuring services are aligned to enterprise risk priorities

  • Drive accountability for outcomes, including quality of findings, timeliness of remediation, and continuous control improvement

  • Partner with vendors to operationalize security tooling, tune controls, and enhance automation at scale

  • Act as the primary escalation and decision point for complex issues, ensuring risks are understood, communicated, and addressed effectively

As a senior individual contributor, this position offers the opportunity to lead some of the most critical security domains through influence, technical authority, decisive execution, and strong vendor leadership, driving meaningful and measurable impact across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Security, DLP & DSPM

  • Own technical direction and operationalization of enterprise data protection capabilities

  • Design and operate DLP controls across:

    • Endpoints

    • AI Platforms

    • Email and collaboration platforms

    • Cloud and SaaS environments

  • Lead DSPM implementation and operations, including:

    • Data discovery and classification

    • Exposure and risk analysis

    • Control validation and gap identification

  • Guide enterprise strategies for data access, sharing, retention, encryption, and key management

  • Partner with IAM to enable identity-centric data protection models

2. AI Security (Primary Focus Area)

  • Lead security architecture and risk assessments for:

    • Microsoft Copilot & Copilot Studio

    • Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI

    • GCP Vertex AI

    • Third-party and embedded SaaS AI capabilities

    • Identify and mitigate GenAI-specific risks, including:

      • Data leakage and oversharing

      • Prompt injection and adversarial attacks

      • Insecure agent permissions, plugins, and connectors

      • Model, training data, and inference exposure

  • Define and operate AI security guardrails, including:

    • Data boundary enforcement

    • Sensitivity labeling and DLP integration

    • Role-based access and least privilege

    • Logging, monitoring, and audit readiness

What we look for:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7–10+ years of experience in application security, data security, cloud security, or AI security
  • Deep hands-on expertise in:
    • Application and API security (OWASP Top 10)
    • Cloud and SaaS security architectures
    • Data protection, DLP, DSPM, and encryption
  • Proven experience securing GenAI platforms or advanced data/analytics environments
  • Strong understanding of identity, access control, and governance models
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Lead through influence
    • Own operational outcomes
    • Drive measurable security improvements
  • Strong communication skills with ability to deliver executive-ready insights and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview (DLP, Information Protection, DSPM)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft Copilot / Copilot Studio
    • Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI
    • GCP Vertex AI
  • Familiarity with data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA)
  • Experience with DSPM tools or large-scale data discovery platforms
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, AZ-500, SC-400
