Job Description:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end service delivery for clients, ensuring all accounting and reporting outputs are accurate, timely, and meet client expectations with minimal rework
  • Manage and review production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines across multiple clients
  • Assist with managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met
  • Translate client requirements and expectations into clear, actionable instructions for the team, ensuring alignment between client needs and offshore execution
  • Coach, train, and mentor staff on client service, and accounting matters
  • Oversight and management of current client engagement team
  • Provide leadership by promoting teamwork, developing training materials, mentoring, and managing workflows
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of each area of upstream oil and gas accounting, including Cost / Property Accounting, Revenue Distribution & Recognition, and Financial Reporting, with expertise in at least two areas (AP processes and Joint interest billing, cost allocation, AFE management, JV partner reporting and division order management, cost accruals, LOS reporting and Trend analysis, production accounting driven allocation processes, revenue entry and recognition concepts, owner relations and DOI management, severance tax calculation and filing, specialty owner reporting and regulatory compliance, FP&A, accrual and closes processes, treasury functions and controls, acquisition accounting, risk and hedge accounting, depletion and amortization, asset retirement obligation, and a basic understanding of the COPAS framework)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required; CA, CPA, MPA, or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience; professional services/consulting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles, including financial data classification, recording, and reporting
  • Proven experience in upstream oil & gas accounting, including cost/property accounting (AP, JIB, cost allocation, AFE, JV reporting, division orders, accruals, LOS and operational reporting)
  • Solid understanding of revenue distribution and recognition, including production accounting, DOI management, owner relations, severance tax, and regulatory reporting (e.g., ONRR)
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting for upstream assets (cash & GAAP), including FP&A, close processes, treasury, acquisition accounting, hedge/risk accounting, depletion & amortization, and ARO
  • Familiarity with COPAS framework and industry-standard accounting practices; experience with tools like Wolfepak, Quorum, Enertia, or Bolo preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies
  • Strong client service orientation with ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining confidentiality
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills with high attention to detail and ability to adapt and apply learnings effectively. Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage relationships across international teams, and make informed decisions in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.
