The Technical Lead is responsible for defining and delivering the software architecture, SDK, IDE toolchain, and embedded ecosystem for Semtech’s next-generation wireless MCU-class SoCs.

This role provides technical ownership of a multi-year development initiative and leads a hybrid team of internal engineers and external development partners to deliver a production-ready developer platform aligned with product, customer, and market requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the architecture of the multi-core SDK, including HAL, IPC mechanisms, wireless protocol integration, and security frameworks (20%).
  • Lead and mentor internal engineers and external partners, ensuring adherence to Semtech’s software development lifecycle, code quality standards, and design practices (25%).
  • Drive technical decision-making across SDK development, connectivity stacks, secure boot/TrustZone integration, and developer tooling (20%).
  • Act as the primary technical interface between Semtech R&D and external development partners, managing specifications, interfaces, and milestone reviews (15%).
  • Collaborate with program management, marketing, and applications engineering to align SDK capabilities with product roadmaps and customer requirements (10%).
  • Ensure software compliance with industry standards and certifications including PSA Level 3, SESIP3, EU Cyber Resilience Act, and radio regulatory requirements (10%).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in embedded software, system engineering, or SoC development with progression into technical leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of SoC architectures, ARM Cortex-M/DSP cores, and system-level hardware/software integration.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating complex multi-stakeholder development programs.
  • Strong technical communication skills and ability to align cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Fluent professional English.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience defining SDKs, evaluation platforms, or customer-facing development environments.
  • Familiarity with multi-core embedded architectures and inter-processor communication design.
  • Experience with silicon bring-up, system validation, and transition to production.
  • Knowledge of embedded toolchains, build systems, and developer experience best practices.
  • Exposure to wireless connectivity technologies such as LoRaWAN, BLE, or IEEE 802.15.4.

Career Growth Philosophy:

At Semtech, we believe that innovation starts with people. We are committed to empowering professional development through mentorship, continuous learning resources, and a collaborative, idea-rich engineering environment.

Our pay-for-performance culture rewards initiative, encourages growth, and recognises meaningful technical and leadership contributions.
