Lead the monthly, quarterly & annual closing activities of General Insurance Business. Review subordinate’s work on General Insurance for both local and group submissions. Responsible for timely and accurate production of the financial information and analysis of the general business with compliance to local, regulatory and group requirements; and responsible to lead the Risk-based Capital (“RBC”) implementation project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee for monthly, quarterly, and annual local and group reporting process for General Insurance Business including review of journal entries, reconciliation and reports. Manage and work with the team to ensure accurate and timely production of financial results. Provide and present analyses and commentary for senior management and the Group. Advise accounting treatment for business needs. Monitor, streamline and revamp the workflow of team and financial control procedures to ensure the business is in fully compliance with internal governance.
  • Ensure annual statutory accounts and other regulatory returns including taxation for General Insurance Business are produced in an accurate and timely manner for respective internal and external users. Review and provide analyses and reply to queries for periodic statutory and regulatory submissions. Handle audit matters.
  • Coordinate the business planning exercise including annual finance budgeting and forecast submissions for General Insurance Business, work with other teams within the organization to prepare the financials targets, review of major performance ratios and prepare slide deck presentation. Monitor progress towards targets.
  • Coordinate the new accounting system implementation project and work with other teams and departments to ensure the appropriate transition and implementation.
  • Oversee the user requirements on system development with respect to the business changes and enhancing reporting efficiency. Advise the technical solutions to reporting requirements. Review the test results performed by subordinates.
  • Manage and develop the subordinates with knowledge transfer, coaching, motivation and care.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree holder in Accounting.
  • Qualified accountant with at least 8 years of relevant experience in financial industry, in which 2 years at supervisory level.
  • Experience in general insurance accounting and involvement in IFRS17 and RBC would be an advantage.
  • Strong business acumen with outstanding planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and inter-personal skills in both spoken and written English.
  • Proactive, able to work independently and under tight deadlines/pressure and perform multiple tasks when needed.
  • Proficient in MS Office, and finance systems. Knowledge in Power BI and SAS is a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge in accounting.
