General Summary
- The Director of Human Resources serves as an internal advisor to senior leadership and management regarding human resources matters to include on-boarding, critical life moments, conflict resolution, performance management, and complex accommodations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring effective resolution of workplace disputes and conflicts through effective practices of conflict resolution, policy administration, and collaboration with Legal Counsel. Conducts high level investigations, delivering findings and making recommendations to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Administers information for and responds to inquiries regarding exit interviews, unemployment hearings and appeals, and assorted administrative issues in support of Human Resources department.
- Responsible for overseeing organizational strategic recruitment and selection plans. Develops or manages retention and incentive programs to improve and minimize turnover.
- Provides leadership to recruitment professionals, oversees recruitment efforts and serves as a primary contact for third party vendor contracts.
- Directs overall performance management process; responds to questions and resolves issues posed by management and staff. Partners with Organizational Development & Learning department to develop coaching, training, and presentations.
- Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvement with efficiency of department and services provided.
- Participates in the Missouri Hospital Association’s Workforce Development initiatives and serves as an active member on workforce relevant committees through MHA and other organizations.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or relevant degree required. Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or Business Administration desired.
Work Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively more advanced human resources or Human Resources generalist, adult training, or organizational development experience required in addition to a minimum of three (3) years of previous direct supervisory experience required. Desirable Skills/Experience in: Microsoft Suite, HR Software and Learning/Education Software, Public Speaking, Communication, Class Facilitation, Recruitment, Onboarding, and Training. Relationship management as well as project management skills. Critical thinking and creative problem solving. Proven team player with excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Certification/License
- ASTD, ATD or PHR/SHRM-CP certification required. Must be attained within 18 months of hire if a relevant certification is not held upon hire.
Mental/Physical Requirements
- Independent body mobility to access a standard office environment; vision sufficient to read a computer screen, manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard on a daily basis; stamina to sit for up to one hour at a time; transport, lift or carry materials (sometimes voluminous and weighing up to 15 pounds); and speak and hear sufficiently to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone. Mental stamina for problem solving and dealing with stressful situations; prioritizing multiple tasks, interpret and apply oral/written instructions. Some travel required.
