About the role

Why This Role Matters

If you’re looking to accelerate your career in ESG, sustainability, and accredited audits—while working with global organizations driving real change—this role places you at the center of it all. ERM Certification & Verification Services (CVS) is one of the fastest‑growing teams within ERM Group, delivering world‑class certification, assurance, validation, verification, and audit services across a wide range of industries.
As a Lead Auditor, you won’t just assess systems—you’ll help shape how organizations manage safety, sustainability, quality, and environmental performance worldwide.

What Your Impact Is

In this role, you will:

  • Lead accredited audits and assessments that help organizations meet global EHS, quality, and sustainability standards.

  • Influence clients’ environmental and operational performance through high‑quality insights, reporting, and risk identification.

  • Partner with industry leaders across sectors such as Oil & Gas, Mining, Manufacturing, Technology, Pharmaceuticals, and Data Centers.

  • Strengthen ERM CVS service delivery by sharing knowledge, coaching peers, and contributing to internal best practices.

  • Support business growth by identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and service offerings.

This is a remote role based in North America, ideally on the U.S. West Coast or Northeast, with 50–75% travel. Most audits occur within the U.S., and global travel may occasionally be required.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Graduate-level qualification OR professional education in Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in operational roles, management system development, system assessment, or performance reporting for EHS objectives.

  • Experience in at least one of the following sectors:

    • Oil & Gas (upstream and downstream)

    • Mining & Minerals (IRMA, ASI, CopperMark; open pit or subterranean)

    • Data Centers (energy use, EHS systems)

    • Manufacturing/Fabrication (e.g., pharma, metals, transportation, machinery, household goods)

  • Training or understanding of at least two management system standards: ISO 9001, 14001, 22301, 27001, 45001, or 50001.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 17021 and ISO 17029 requirements.

  • Understanding of U.S. or broader Americas EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, and sector-specific requirements).

  • Strong organizational skills with a track record of delivering audits on time.

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills across cultures and organizational levels.

  • Ability to produce clear, concise audit reports and present findings effectively.

  • Experience coaching others in audit delivery.

  • Fluency in English, with strong written and spoken communication skills.

Preferred

  • Additional languages (Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese).

  • Broader cross-sector audit experience in complex or high-risk operations.

  • Experience contributing to the development of audit processes or competency frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead accredited audits in accordance with ERM CVS procedures, standards, and quality expectations.

  • Prepare high‑quality audit reports and determine assessment conclusions that support client performance improvement.

  • Share knowledge and contribute to the development of ERM CVS methodologies, competencies, and internal guidance.

  • Identify and support business development opportunities with ERM CVS Partners and client teams.

  • Represent ERM professionally in client interactions, maintaining trust and credibility at all organizational levels.

For the Auditor (Certification and Verification services) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of CAD $ 76,500 - $108,070.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.  This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
