Technology and Transformation Alliances, part of Analytical Development (AD) Synthetics at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, leads AD transformation through means of data, modeling, technology, and strategic partnerships.
The Technology team is recruiting for a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Expert, located in Beerse. As a PAT Expert, you will lead the development and implementation of on-line and in-line analytical tools (e.g. spectroscopic tools, particle sizing tools ...) to monitor and control critical quality attributes in batch and continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
You will act as a PAT subject matter expert, working closely with R&D process development and manufacturing teams to ensure successful PAT integration. The role involves evaluating emerging analytical technologies, applying statistical data analysis and chemometrics, maintaining high scientific and regulatory standards, and communicating results to project teams and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement PAT solutions to support process understanding, monitoring, and control.
- Design, analyse, and interpret data using advanced statistical and chemometric methods.
- Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams across multiple dosage forms and process platforms.
- Assess feasibility of new analytical technologies and monitor relevant scientific developments.
- Ensure scientific rigor and quality in experimental design and execution.
- Author and review technical reports, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, ICH guidelines, and safety requirements.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, or a related discipline, or a Master’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience.
- Proven expertise in chemometrics and statistical data analysis.
- Strong programming skills (e.g. Python, MATLAB, or R).
- Extensive experience with PAT, particularly spectroscopic techniques such as, but not limited to, NIR and Raman.
- Familiarity with additional analytical tools (e.g. particle size analysis, chromatography, mass spectrometry).
- Experience with chemical, pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical processes and regulated environments is preferred.
