Manager, Applications Engineering

Job Summary & Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and direction to application engineers for providing the perspective of customer process and device roadmaps for a broad function area. Recognized as a technology expert.
• Manages local technical resources and works closely with BU, and account team to ensure high installed base performance and customer satisfaction.
• Responsible for driving the applications team to execute on Onto Innovation strategic plans.
• Resolve unusually complex technical issues utilizing systematic troubleshooting methodology generally involving multiple processes. Create a mechanism to communicate issues, track progress and pull resources from multiple business units and/or functions. Communicates learnings to rest-of-world to strengthen Onto Innovation products and processes.
• Technical expert leading strategic activities

• The Applications Manager should know wafer fab processes and Onto Innovation technology portfolio to map customer challenges to Onto solutions, identify inflections, and threats and opportunities for share and TAM growth. Determines segmentation & requirements. Delivers detailed competitive analysis.
• Discovers customer high value problems, understands options and influences the customer's technical choices.
• Protects customer and Onto IP and gathers competitive intelligence.
• Leads the implementation in new products and CIPs to existing product line
• Application Coverage- Film Thickness Measurement, Modeling and Trouble shooting

• Owns Customer Relationships

• Develops and manages relationships with technical buyers. Improves customer preference to engage Onto Innovation on technical problems. Build relationships with technical personnel at customers (at the level of Section / Department Managers)
• Takes the lead in positioning new technologies to customers. Interfaces with customers at the key development and manufacturing sites to form strategic partnerships to evaluate new and emerging technologies and oversees joint development activities or beta-site testing programs.
• Responsible for supporting all TRMs and technical engagement programs with customers.

• Responsible the applications resource management and local team development.

• Works with applications managers, account managers and service managers on regional project priorities and resource optimization to achieve the business goals.
• Responsible for team’s skill level development including training and cross training to meet customer support needs.

Qualifications

• Qualification

• MSc degree with 10 years of experience or PhD degree with 7 years of experience in semiconductor metrology and inspection.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Expert applications understanding and knowledge in metrology and inspection.
• Demonstrated ability to assign priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.
