Job Description
As part of ADI’s Engineering Enablement group you will be responsible for supporting design teams developing PCB-based ADI system products. These products range from high-power uModules used in data centers to healthcare imaging arrays used in medical imaging systems.
In addition to providing day-to-day support to design teams working on PCB-based products, you will play a lead role in improving ADI’s PCB design flows, ensuring that tool interfaces and data flows are smooth, that system-board optimization is supported, and that best-in-class tools are in the hands of our design teams.
You will also collaborate with simulation experts in Engineering Enablement to advance our PCB modeling and system-level simulation flows.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands on support of ADI teams designing PCB-based system products
- Work closely with our global operations team to ensure our PCB design flows are aligned with manufacturing requirements and that they interface cleaning with our manufacturing databases
- Improve our existing PCB design flows to levels that exceed what is generally available to the wider industry, which can include bringing in new tools, writing custom tools, developing new flows, and writing code to ensure smooth data flow between tools
- Documenting our tools and flows, and providing training to design teams
Qualifications
- B.S.c. or MASc degree in electrical engineering, or a relevant field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- At least 5+ years of experience in designing flex and/or rigid PCBs, or in providing expert support to engineering teams working on PCB designs
- Expertise with Cadence’s Allegro Software Tools is a must, and ideally includes writing custom Allegro Skill code that uses Allegro’s API functions
- Experience with other PCB design tools such as Altium a plus but not necessary
- A thorough understanding of the details of PCB design flows, such as constraints management, stack-up descriptions, pad stacks, routing approaches, classes and sub-classes
- Familiarity with PCB simulation tools and signal integrity analysis is a plus but not necessary
- Experience interfacing with fabrication houses a plus
