As a Senior Specialist, Data Engineering, you will work with a team of data product managers, data scientists, and data engineers building scalable data pipelines and curated datasets that power new financial data products, ensuring completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and reliability from onboarding through production delivery.

With this position we offer

Join Nasdaq’s Product Development and Innovation group, specializing in crafting outstanding and informative data products from traditional sources (stock prices, fundamentals) as well as non-traditional sources such as Alternative Data (satellite imagery, consumer transactions, GPS transponders). Using data from internal and external sources, we deliver innovative products that power some of the world’s most successful organizations.

Role Responsibilities

Working alongside top-tier professionals in Product Management, Product Development, and AI & Automation, you will play a pivotal role in developing new data products and bringing them to market.

  • Design and build data pipelines to onboard, extract, load, transform, and enrich new data sources.

  • Apply domain knowledge of financial data to curate datasets and accelerate product development.

  • Partner with Product Management and Product Development to analyze, validate, and transform datasets into finished products.

  • Collaborate with AI & Automation to advise on and adopt AI-powered workflow tools that scale delivery and drive efficiency.

  • Implement robust data quality checks and supervising to ensure completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and reliability.

We expect you to have:

  • 7+ years programming experience in Python, Spark, SQL, Java, and/or Unix shell scripting.

  • Strong domain knowledge in the capital markets.

  • Strong foundation in exploratory data analysis, data onboarding, and data pipelines.

  • Cloud and systems experience in AWS (S3/EC2), Databricks, and Linux.

  • Solid understanding of Git or other version control software.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written); comfortable in a fast-paced, startup-style environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

It would be great if you

  • Previous experience crafting financial data products.

  • Experience working with Alternative Data sources (e.g., satellite imagery, consumer transactions, mobility/GPS).
