We are seeking a Systems Engineering Lead to manage engineering activities across Electronic Warfare (EW), Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD), Counter-Uncrewed Air System (C-UAS) and Communications Systems projects.

This role sits within our Rapid Capability Delivery organisation, where engineering teams work at pace to design, integrate, trial, and deliver capability in response to evolving operational needs. You will provide both technical experience and leadership, guiding multidisciplinary teams from concept through to verification and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineering activities to mature developmental designs into integrated, delivery‑ready solutions.
  • Provide technical and functional leadership across software, hardware, and systems integration teams.
  • Plan and lead design reviews, integration activities, and range trials, ensuring technical rigor and delivery cadence.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve complex technical and integration challenges.
  • Drive delivery effectiveness through clear plans, risk‑based decision making, and disciplined execution.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Engage stakeholders and customers with clear, evidence‑based communication and trusted technical advice.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualification in relevant engineering discipline, and professional development sufficient to attain recognition as CPEng with Engineers Australia in a relevant engineering stream.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the systems engineering lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams to align system design, software, and hardware delivery to program milestones.
  • Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.
  • Ability to achieve day-to-day operational objectives with significant impact on the results of the Program.
  • Demonstrated experience performing work with minimal oversight.
  • Proven experience communicating with parties within and outside of own work area as well as parties external to the organisation (e.g. customers, vendors, etc.).
  • Diplomatic approach to problem solving
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to establish strong working relationships and build customer rapport to influence stakeholders for the best program outcomes.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
