We are looking for a Senior Privacy Attorney with experience managing workforce-related privacy matters who has excellent judgement, loves to analyze complex legal issues, partners effectively across teams, and builds scalable solutions. We are looking for someone able to collaborate cross-functionally while also balancing competing demands, working independently, and maintaining a positive attitude. The Trade Desk is a company that will invest in its employees’ professional development— as we grow, we want our employees to grow with us.

What you'll do:

  • Own and scale the company’s global workforce privacy strategy and compliance programs across the full employee, contractor, and candidate data lifecycle.
  • Develop, operationalize and oversee global workforce privacy governance and programs, including privacy notices and policies, impact assessments, records of processing, access requests, record retention, and incident response.
  • Provide end-to-end privacy counsel support throughout the vendor lifecycle for vendors that process employee and candidate personal data, from tool evaluation through implementation and go-live, including privacy/AI diligence, contracting (DPAs and other privacy terms), privacy impact assessments/records, data retention/deletion, and updates to privacy notices and internal agreements.
  • Advise legal teams and business partners on global privacy, data protection, and AI laws and regulations as they relate to workforce data, and translate regulatory requirements into pragmatic, risk-balanced guidance.
  • Partner closely with Procurement Legal, Employment Legal, People, Talent Acquisition, Security, IT, Product and Engineering to ensure lawful, ethical, and scalable use of workforce data across the employee lifecycle.
  • Continuously improve templates, playbooks, and processes to scale and support global privacy practices.

Who you are:

    • 12+ years of relevant experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm, in-house, or in government
    • J.D. from an accredited law school
    • Admitted to practice law where the role is based (or eligible to register as in-house counsel)
    • Deep expertise in privacy and data protection law, with experience advising on workforce-related privacy strategy and compliance
    • Proven collaborator who partners effectively with cross‑functional teams to develop and advise on privacy programs
    • Excellent communicator, able to convey complex concepts clearly to legal, technical, and business stakeholders at all levels
    • Business‑minded and adaptable, comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced environment while balancing competing, time‑sensitive priorities
    • Strong interpersonal skills (sense of humor is a big plus)

The Trade Desk does not accept unsolicited resumes from search firm recruiters. Fees will not be paid in the event a candidate submitted by a recruiter without an agreement in place is hired; such resumes will be deemed the sole property of The Trade Desk.
