Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a strategic business partner to the Local Division Manager (LDM) and business leadership, leading local finance teams to optimize financial performance across South Korea.  You will support effective business decisions through rigorous financial governance, reporting, audit leadership, cost control, and proactive business partnering, while ensuring full compliance with ABB policies, internal controls, and audit standards.

This role is contributing to the Automation Division, Energy Industries Business Area in Cheonan, South Korea. Key stakeholders include the Local Division Manager, Hub Controller, business managers, and global finance colleagues.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing, reporting, variance analysis, and financial disclosures, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and timeliness.

  • Ensure full compliance with ABB financial policies, internal controls, governance requirements, and audit standards.

  • Pre-align all key financial assumptions, forecasts, budgets, and reporting narratives with the Local Division Manager (LDM).

  • Lead internal and external audit cycles end-to-end, including audit planning, readiness assessments, documentation, responses, and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Oversee travel & expense (T&E), procurement, and departmental operating costs, ensuring disciplined cost management.

  • Track and monitor country-level legal, contractual, compliance, and customer-related issues with potential financial or operational impact.

  • Provide financial insights, scenario analysis, and strategic decision support to business leaders.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial controlling, reporting, and business partnering, preferably with multinational company.

  • Strong experience in business planning, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance management.

  • Solid knowledge of SAP, SAP BW, with advanced proficiency in MS Excel.

  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.

  • Business-level proficiency in English (verbal and written) and native-level in Korean fluency.

  • CPA/CA qualification would be an advantage
