About the Investment Directing team

The main objective of the Investment Directing team is to commercialise Fidelity International’s investment capabilities. To achieve this, the team is responsible for representing these capabilities and funds to prospective and existing clients, providing comprehensive and outstanding reporting on portfolios, promoting thought leadership, creating new products to meet investors’ demands, and generating marketing material to support sales activity. Success in this field requires a strong knowledge of investments, a deep and permanent knowledge of portfolio strategies, a capacity to communicate these in different formats and an ability to support sales teams through direct client relationships. Equity Investment Directing is a globally-integrated team with representatives in London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Gurgaon (India).

Purpose of your role

Represent and grow Fidelity’s fundamental equities franchise in Australia by acting as a senior spokesperson for the below strategies, maintaining a solutions‑based mindset to drive superior client outcomes, and partnering across internal and external stakeholders to develop, position and deliver compelling investment solutions.

  • Fidelity Australian Equity Fund
  • Fidelity Australian High Conviction Fund
  • Fidelity Future Leaders Fund
  • Fidelity Global Future Leaders Fund
  • Fidelity Global Equities Fund

Clients and target markets will be both within Australia and abroad which means travel is highly likely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client engagement
  • Serve as a senior representative and PM proxy for fundamental equity strategies, communicating philosophy, process, positioning and performance to clients, consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead investment updates, market outlooks and respond to complex/technical client and consultant queries; coordinate with Investment Specialists/Fund Analysts on data‑led requests.
  • Maintain a solutions mindset and client outcomes orientated approach and proactively identify opportunities/risks to improve Fidelity and client outcomes.

  • Shape proposals in partnership with Distribution, Product and Investment Solutions Design; contribute to due‑diligence, RFPs, institutional/wholesale pitches and defences.
  • Stakeholder leadership and collaboration; Build and manage strong relationships with Portfolio Managers, Research, Distribution, Product and Marketing across channels and countries; align resources and messaging to deliver franchise goals.
  • Lead internal sales education; coach and mentor junior team members; contribute best practice across the broader FIL network.
  • Drive franchise growth; Own positioning, messaging and commercial direction for the equities franchise; input to product development/repurposes and prospectus‑related changes.
  • Sign off on reporting; enhance presentations and marketing content; drive thought leadership (market/fund commentary, conferences, client insights).
  • Commercial acumen:
  • Assess commercial positioning, competitor landscape and distribution trends; develop clear sales propositions aligned to client needs.
  • Identify business at risk and implement appropriate remedies.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Extensive equities asset‑management experience (fundamental research/investing literacy).
  • Proven ability to represent PM processes and outcomes to institutional and wholesale clients.
  • Demonstrated solutions orientation linking client needs to the right Fidelity capabilities and structures.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with sound judgement across diverse groups.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; compelling presenter and author of market/fund commentary.
  • Advanced PowerPoint, Excel and Word; meticulous attention to detail; thrives under tight deadlines.
  • Team player who models Fidelity values of Integrity, Innovation and Excellence.
