The GPC Global Technology Center team works on a wide range of projects assisting in areas such as e-commerce and data platforms, supply chain solutions, selling systems, and cyber security. This is home to a team of highly skilled IT engineers who are dedicated to driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions for GPC.

Position Purpose
 

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our AI team, focusing on the exploration and implementation of Generative AI and other innovative new technologies. This role will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that leverage Generative AI. 
The ideal candidate for this role is a seasoned software engineer with a passion for innovation and a track record of integrating Machine Learning and/or Generative AI into real-world applications. This candidate brings extensive experience in building scalable solutions across the technology stack, coupled with proficiency in cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP). With a collaborative mindset, this individual thrives in a team environment, working closely with staff and lead engineers, the product owner, and data scientists to deliver high-quality solutions.  Proficiency in Python for back-end development is essential, ensuring seamless integration across the stack. Experience with JavaScript is also valuable for building user-friendly interfaces. Excellent communication skills and a knack for problem-solving effectively contribute to the team's success by translating complex technical concepts into actionable strategies.

Responsibilities

Independent Execution:

• Demonstrate the ability to execute tasks and projects independently, driving them from inception to completion with minimal supervision.

• Exhibit self-reliance and resourcefulness in problem-solving, leveraging technical expertise to overcome challenges effectively.

• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and deliverables, ensuring they are completed accurately and on schedule.

• Design and whiteboard solutions, collaborating with the team to develop and implement innovative approaches.

Generative AI Exploration:

• Investigate and apply Generative AI methodologies to meet the company's specific needs and challenges.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine the best applications of Generative AI for the business.

Cloud Solutions Development:

• Take an active role in the design and implementation of Cloud solutions, particularly on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Vertex AI, for assigned projects or components within the team.

• Guide the full lifecycle of development, from initial design to production deployment, ensuring quality and efficiency.

• Design and whiteboard solutions, collaborating with the team to develop and implement innovative approaches.

Continuous Learning and Improvement:

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to evolve the team's capabilities continually.

• Foster a culture of curiosity and learning, encouraging experimentation and growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in full-stack software development, with a strong focus on Python, and development-to-production lifecycle. Experience with JavaScript (React or similar) is a plus.

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is essential.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• Passion for learning and applying innovative technologies, with the ability to inspire and drive innovation within the team.

• Experience with Generative AI, deploying and supporting Large Language Models, and building/deploying Data Science related solutions is a major plus.
