About the Role

Bybit is building the next generation of regulated digital-asset market infrastructure.

We are seeking a senior technology leader to drive the evolution of our core trading systems toward CME/Nasdaq-grade exchange infrastructure — ultra-low-latency, deterministic, resilient, auditable, risk-controlled, and regulator-ready by design.

This is a highly strategic leadership role responsible for shaping the architecture, performance, resilience, and institutional readiness of Bybit’s core exchange infrastructure globally.

The ideal candidate has built or led mission-critical trading systems within exchanges, broker-dealers, HFT firms, market makers, clearing firms, or large-scale financial market infrastructure organizations.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the long-term architecture strategy for Bybit’s core trading infrastructure, including order gateway, pre-trade risk, matching engine, post-trade systems, market data, replay, auditability, and disaster recovery.
• Drive the design and optimization of ultra-low-latency trading systems with deterministic p99 / p99.9 performance under extreme market conditions.
• Standardize trading system architecture and behavior across spot, margin, perpetuals, futures, options, unified accounts, portfolio margin, and institutional APIs.
• Build regulator-ready exchange infrastructure with deterministic replay, audit trails, sequence recovery, operational controls, and production governance.
• Lead exchange-grade risk control architecture, including:
• Pre-trade risk checks
• Fat-finger protection
• Price collars
• Self-trade prevention
• Kill switch controls
• Order throttling
• Position & margin controls
• Cancel-on-disconnect logic
• Establish performance engineering standards and methodologies across the trading stack, including latency benchmarking, packet-level tracing, replay testing, and production-grade certification.
• Lead architecture reviews, incident reviews, resilience testing, capacity planning, and production-readiness governance for mission-critical trading systems.
• Partner closely with product, compliance, security, institutional business, risk, and regional regulatory teams to support Bybit’s global expansion into regulated markets.
• Recruit, mentor, and scale a world-class trading technology organization across low-latency engineering, distributed systems, market data infrastructure, and risk systems.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in trading technology, exchange infrastructure, HFT, market making, clearing, or financial market infrastructure.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing senior engineering teams or owning architecture for mission-critical trading platforms.
• Deep understanding of electronic trading systems and exchange market structure, including:
• Matching engines
• Order lifecycle management
• Market data architecture
• Replay & recovery systems
• Trade capture & reconciliation
• Deterministic matching
• Strong hands-on technical expertise in:
• C++
• Linux systems
• Networking
• Concurrency
• Low-latency architecture
• Memory optimization
• Lock-free systems
• Binary protocols
• Tail-latency optimization
• Experience building highly resilient, observable, replayable, and auditable systems within regulated or institutional-grade environments.
• Ability to operate effectively at both executive and deep technical levels, influencing senior stakeholders across engineering, business, compliance, and risk functions.

Experience with any of the following is highly valued:

• Exchange matching engines, OMS/EMS, DMA platforms, clearing or post-trade systems
• FIX / FIXP / SBE / OUCH / ITCH protocols
• Multicast market data and replay infrastructure
• PTP / IEEE 1588, DPDK, RDMA, FPGA-aware systems
• Pre-trade risk and market-access control frameworks
• High-availability trading infrastructure and disaster recovery architecture
• Institutional-grade audit and surveillance systems
