The Workplace Experience, Facilities & Operations Lead is a highly accountable individual contributor role responsible for the day-to-day performance, feel, and functionality of Ancestry’s Draper HQ. This role owns facilities operations while keeping the broader employee and workplace experience front and center in every decision—from how the space operates to how employees experience their workday.
This role requires a strong ownership mindset and proactive approach. The Lead anticipates needs, solves problems before they escalate, and continuously looks for ways to improve how the workplace supports people and the business.
This role is designed as a highly autonomous, player-coach individual contributor role with day-to-day operational ownership of Draper HQ. While the position may oversee one direct report as part of the current operating model, the primary emphasis of the role is hands-on leadership, execution, cross-functional partnership, and accountability for workplace and facilities outcomes. The Lead works in close partnership with the Program Manager of Workplace Experience to actively support and execute workplace experience initiatives.
What You Will Do...
Facilities & Headquarters Operations
Own day-to-day facilities and operational performance of the Draper HQ, serving as the primary point of accountability for how the workplace functions.
Provide day-to-day direction, prioritization, and support to the Workplace Experience Specialist to ensure strong execution and seamless on-site operations.
Act as the first point of contact for facilities issues, service requests, and event setups, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
Proactively identify operational risks, maintenance needs, and improvement opportunities before issues arise.
Own maintenance, repairs, and preventative programs, working directly with the primary landlord to ensure a safe, reliable, and welcoming environment.
Manage vendor relationships including property management, janitorial, maintenance, safety, and specialty service providers.
Oversee physical security systems and badge access; own Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), drills, and Everbridge readiness in partnership with building security.
Manage facilities budgets, purchase orders, invoicing, and expense tracking with strong financial discipline.
Maintain facilities documentation, service schedules, and compliance records.
Employee & Workplace Experience (Day-to-Day Lens)
Ensure that employee experience is considered in all operational decisions, balancing efficiency, cost, and impact on employees.
Create a welcoming, secure, and well-run headquarters environment for employees, visitors, and candidates.
Oversee office amenities including kitchens, snacks, and shared spaces, maintaining quality and consistency while staying within budget.
Actively gather employee feedback through day-to-day interactions and partner with People & Places leadership to drive continuous improvement.
Collaborate with appropriate teams on wellness initiatives, events, and moments that build connection and culture.
Partner with appropriate teams to celebrate holidays, milestones, and cultural moments aligned with company values and Places programming.
Workplace Operations, Logistics & Support
Oversee mailroom, shipping, receiving, and logistics operations, including domestic and international shipments.
Ensure accurate tracking, cost allocation, and documentation for shipments, inventory, and supplies.
Manage office, kitchen, and operational supplies to ensure appropriate stock levels and readiness.
Support onboarding and offboarding logistics in partnership with IT and People teams.
Own offsite warehouse, storage, and back-of-house operations as applicable to the HQ.
Partnership with Workplace Experience Program Management
Act as a strong day-to-day partner to the Program Manager of Workplace Experience, supporting the planning and execution of workplace experience initiatives.
Actively support programs such as collaboration days, events, engagement pilots, and HQ-based programming.
Translate workplace experience initiatives into operational execution, ensuring facilities, vendors, and space are aligned.
Provide feedback, insights, and on-the-ground observations to help inform program evolution and future initiatives.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner closely with IT, Security, Finance, Procurement, and AP on assets, vendors, systems, and budgets.
Support internal meetings, events, and offsites in partnership with Executive Assistants and ERGs.
Contribute to broader People & Places initiatives and help reinforce consistent workplace standards.
Who You Are...

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, paired with sound judgment.
