Position Overview
Woolpert is hiring a Site Civil Office/Field Professional to join our dynamic Energy Engineering Team at our Columbus, OH office. This position is responsible for supporting civil site projects, typically including grading and earthwork, site access, erosion control, stormwater management, and other documentation to support the client's urban permitting and construction efforts. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years (preferably more) relevant experience in fields such as construction management, civil engineering, or surveying. Priority will be given to candidates who are experienced with civil site projects and construction activities and on a professional licensure track (PE, PS, BCSP, PMP, or similar).
We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.
The Site Civil Office/Field staff will be working with the technical team and under the supervision of a project manager to deliver well-executed projects to our clients. In the office, you will assist with plan production, constructability reviews, perform and review design calculations, drive quality assurance, and support the internal and external project team on a variety of site/civil land development engineering projects. Project elements typically include grading and earthwork, site access, erosion control, stormwater management, utility routing, project reports and notes, and other documentation to support the client’s permitting and construction efforts. Field tasks include confirming that materials, grading, and other elements conform to the engineering plans; collecting information from the field and creating status reports for the client; and coordinating with design engineer, survey staff, contractors, and other team members to ensure construction proceeds smoothly and potential problems are identified and addressed quickly. The ratio of office-to-field hours will vary by project schedules and needs,but is anticipated to average approximately 75% office-based work.
What You Will Do:
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to help produce engineering plans and exhibits.
- Work with engineering and survey professionals to fulfill site civil and underground utility-related tasks.
- Manage individual project phases such as survey, pre-construction, construction support and As-Built phases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support project objectives (scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, client satisfaction) in accordance with established metrics.
- Develop or improve technical expertise in site/civil design and construction, hydrology/hydraulics, erosion and sedimentation control, slope stability, underground utilities, and stormwater management.
