Your role and responsibilities
Quality is in the heart of our culture, starting from the suppliers and ending to the customer experience. To support our ambition to deliver consistently high quality, we are looking for a Supplier Quality Manager to join our Quality team at ABB Oy, Drive Products unit in Pitäjänmäki Helsinki, Finland.
In this role, you will be responsible for the supplier quality management of mechanical categories for our frequency converters. In cooperation with our suppliers, you will manage the supplier quality objectives and activities in line with our quality and sourcing policies and strategies. Working together with the key internal stakeholders, such as Operations, SCM, Purchasing and Engineering, you will develop our internal processes and ways of working towards improved supplier quality. We believe taking care of our suppliers is an essential cornerstone in building up world-class operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
This position offers a great opportunity to work in an international, collaborative environment with both our external suppliers and own internal stakeholders.
The position is based in Helsinki and requires willingness to travel approximately 50 days per year. We offer a hybrid work model.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Supplier quality management for our mechanical categories
Maintaining and improving the supplier base to ensure supplier capability in their processes and compliance with our requirements
Monitoring, reporting and developing supplier KPI’s and metrics
Planning and executing supplier development projects
Conducting audits and assessments to qualify suppliers
Supporting new supplier introduction and ramp-ups
Managing the production part approval process for selected key components
Promptly reacting to supplier issues and nonconformities by coordinating corrective and preventive actions towards the supplier base
Collaborating with key internal stakeholders to further develop our ways of working in supplier quality
Supporting in component and category specifications and validation requirements creation
Qualifications for the role
- Several years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, quality or sourcing roles are essential
- Demonstrated experience in quality management or supplier management
- Quality and reliability engineering knowledge
- Technical and manufacturing processes knowledge in mechanical categories such as sheet metals, plastics, busbars, heat sinks and fasteners
- Demonstrated experience in external stakeholder management
- Working permit to Finland
- Good communication skills and team-oriented approach
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a systematic and organized approach to tasks
- Experience in using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, PowerBI, SAP
- Fluent written and verbal English language skills, Finnish is seen as an advantage
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. / B. Eng. degree in Engineering
The following qualifications are beneficial:
- Lean Six Sigma knowledge, Green or Black Belt
- ISO 9001 auditor experience
- Familiarity with standards ISO 14001, ISO 45001, as well as automotive standards such as IATF 16949
