Job Description

Please note: This role is contingent upon contract award. While not an immediate opening, we are actively interviewing and may extend offers in anticipation of the award, with start dates dependent upon contract finalization.

Senior Copywriter

For many years now, you’ve been writing. Manifestos, anthem scripts, brand platforms, the line that made the campaign click, and plenty that didn’t. You’ve written fast, written under pressure, written things you loved and things you rewrote ten times. Somewhere in all of that, you got good.

You start with the idea. You know that words are only as strong as the thinking behind them. You're able to take a brief, find the angle, and author concepts and stories that resonate. Your ideas hold together across channels and stand the test of time.

Your closest collaborators are art directors and strategists. You partner with them to turn strategy into work that influences and inspires. You push the thinking, challenge the assumptions, and refine the craft until you’re left with something simple, powerful, and worth making.

You’re a senior copywriter, and you love the work. Your experience has sharpened your instincts, your voice, and your judgment. You lead by example, helping the team land breakthrough ideas and see them through.

We work on complex challenges where the stakes are real. The expectations are high. The opportunity to create meaningful work is real.

About ICF Next

ICF Next brings together strategy, creativity, data, and technology to solve real problems.

We work with organizations facing complex challenges across energy, public health, climate, and more. The work is not just about communication. It is about helping people understand, engage, and take action.

Our teams build integrated campaigns and experiences that connect with people and hold together across channels. The work needs to be clear, useful, and built to perform. If it does not resonate, it does not work.

As a Senior Copywriter, you’ll:

  • Work with strategists and art directors, developing ideas and concepts for projects and campaigns.

  • Write copy for all marketing channels, including social, digital, print, audio, and video.

  • Develop systems, messaging hierarchies, and brand worlds.

  • Support clients who tackle important issues like energy efficiency and public health.

  • Serve as a leader across our teams. Embrace ambiguity, step in where needed, and help push the work forward.

  • Make deadlines. Seems obvious, but it’s kind of a thing here.

You’ll need:

  • 8+ years of experience as a copywriter, preferably within an agency environment.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Professional Attributes:

  • A portfolio that shows strong concepting and copywriting skills across a range of content

  • Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail.

  • Experience in tech, energy, or public sectors is a plus but not a requirement.

  • Experience using emerging Ai applications both in static and dynamic forms

  • Strong leadership skills. You'll be stepping forward with a vision, guiding the work, mentoring junior creatives, and providing thought-partnership across our organization.

What we offer:

  • Flexible working arrangements, including remote and hybrid options

  • Competitive benefits, including healthcare and retirement plans

  • Ongoing training and development opportunities

  • A collaborative environment with opportunities to connect across teams

  • Opportunities to contribute to social impact and community initiatives
