Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer/Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Municipal Engineering team, based in either our Newfoundland and Labrador or Nova Scotia offices. This is an excellent opportunity for a new graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience on meaningful infrastructure projects while being mentored by experienced technical leaders.

Your role

  • Assist with the design and analysis of municipal linear infrastructure projects, including water, sanitary, and stormwater systems.

  • Support water, sanitary, and storm infrastructure studies, including data collection, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, system assessments, and capacity analyses.

  • Contribute to site development projects for municipal, industrial, and utility clients.

  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical drawings, and design documentation for civil infrastructure projects.

  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, cost estimates, and technical memoranda.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, environmental specialists, and construction personnel.

  • Support proposal preparation and overall project delivery activities.

  • Participate in field work and site visits, including construction support and inspections, as required.

  • Develop professional skills through mentorship, training, and exposure to a diverse range of engineering projects.

About you

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or close to completion).

  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with PEGNL or Engineers Nova Scotia, or eligible to register.

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience, including co-op, internship, or summer experience (an asset).

  • Familiarity or interest in industry software such as:

    • AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.

    • WaterCAD.

    • SewerCAD.

    • PCSWMM (asset).

  • Interest in municipal infrastructure, including water, sanitary, and stormwater systems.

  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English (spoken and written).

  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License or willingness to obtain one.

  • Required to complete security and reliability clearance
