As a Facilities Water Services Technician Apprentice at Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho, you will gain foundational knowledge of semiconductor water purification and waste treatment systems while learning preventative/corrective maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and continuous improvement practices.
At the end of the apprenticeship, participants will earn a U.S. Department of Labor and industry‑recognized credential.
 

Responsibilities

  • Complete required safety training and perform all work in accordance with safety policies.

  • Partner with operations technicians and engineers/technicians to complete daily priorities and support learning cycles.

  • Receive on‑the‑job training and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned water/wastewater and supporting semiconductor facilities equipment.

  • Use mechanical, electronic, and PC/software skills to troubleshoot equipment issues and support resolution of equipment‑related problems.

  • Provide troubleshooting support, address root causes, and improve reliability by investigating chronic problems and identifying solutions.

  • Participate in area continuous improvement / ongoing improvement programs and contribute to problem‑solving efforts.

  • Maintain documentation, including observations, work performed, and current equipment/tool status.

  • Adhere to all apprenticeship guidelines, protocols, and additional instructions from the program manager and program partners

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Willingness and ability to enroll in our related technical instructor for schooling

  • Basic to intermediate PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Teams) and Zoom for virtual meetings.

  • Solid time management and prioritization skills.

  • Reliable and consistent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Students enrolled in (or prior exposure to) Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Wastewater Treatment Plant Technology, Instrumentation/Automation programs.

  • Mechanical proficiency with the ability to understand and troubleshoot mechanical systems.

  • Experience with preventative maintenance and equipment/automotive repairs.

  • Ability to troubleshoot intermediate problems and identify and resolve root causes.

  • Ability to multi‑task and work effectively in a fast‑paced, team environment.

  • Must be flexible to work any shift and rotate shifts as needed (Micron will work with apprentices to support class schedule as needed).
