Your role and responsibilities
Here you will take a key role in transforming quality from reactive inspection into built-in, predictive process excellence, directly impacting customer trust and operational performance.
In this role, you will be responsible for process quality performance on the production lines, leading a team of Quality Engineers working close to daily operations. Role will be based in Vaasa, Finland and due to the nature of the position, requires 100% on-site presence. You will ensure that quality is embedded into processes, supported by Practical Problem Solving- routines and Quality Circles, and aligned with ABB’s Smart Factory and Zero Defect ambitions.

You will be mainly accountable for:
Leading process quality execution across production lines, ensuring quality is built into every process step
Managing and coaching Quality Engineers working on the shopfloor, enabling strong PPS execution and daily improvement culture
Driving Quality Circles, root cause analysis and structured problem solving, shifting focus from firefighting to prevention
Ensuring clear, standardized and up-to-date SOPs, supporting safe and stable production
Integrating quality into PPS, MES and digital quality tools, supporting data-driven and predictive quality management
Strengthening traceability, quality gates and supplier quality collaboration
Acting as a key quality interface between Production, Engineering, Logistics, Purchasing and IT
Supporting deployment of Quality Process Target Pictures and Smart Factory use cases
Qualifications for the role
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related field
Several years of experience in process quality, manufacturing, operational excellence or strong knowledge of FIMOT production.
Proven experience working close to production and leading shopfloor
Strong knowledge of Lean (TPM), daily management and continuous improvement practices
Experience with root cause analysis methods (A3, 8D, 5-Why or similar)
Understanding of quality systems, traceability, audits and supplier quality
Ability to work cross-functionally and lead change in an operational environment
Fluency in English and Finnish
