Indirect Tax Risk Assurance&Control Manager
In this role You will:
Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of second-line assurance activities under the ITCF framework
Define testing scope and approach, review evidence, assess control effectiveness, and contribute to assurance reporting and partner feedback.
Respond to developments in bp businesses or the external control environment by recommending updates to the policy and/or the underlying process documents.
Find opportunities for simplification and digital enablement across control assurance activities
Provide data-driven insights to support the Quarterly performance review.
Support the delivery of the Annual ITCF risk assessment process
Offer control advisory support to partners, helping interpret control requirements and promote ownership of indirect tax risk management.
Oversee the quality and integrity of ITCF control data, coordinating updates in the online reporting tool to maintain accuracy, validation, and alignment with business changes
Lead communications and training on control expectations, testing outcomes, and remediations to partners within bp and beyond.
Manage the TRAC team
What You will need to be successful:
Educated at degree level, preferably with a relevant accounting or tax qualification
Minimum 8–12 years’ experience in audit, internal controls or risk management.
Fluency in English
Proven track record in leading assurance programs and control testing activities.
Ability to translate control concepts into practical guidance for junior staff and non-control partners.
Strong understanding of indirect taxes, their risks and impact on business operations
Good understanding of finance and accounting processes, with exposure to SAP or similar systems.
Digital mindset with a focus on simplification and continuous improvement.
Experience managing teams and delivering through others, with strong coaching and leadership skills.
Experience in working with third party service providers for the delivery of professional services.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior partners – both internal to bp and beyond - and promote control ownership.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a pro-active approach to problem-solving.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
Experience operating in high-pressure environments, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
