The MEP Engineer will be a key member of the Linxon GETS (Global Engineering and Technology Services) team, contributing to the effective execution and operation of project activities.
The role involves working on project- and tender-specific assignments within the GETS group, collaborating with a skilled team on a wide range of international Transmission & Distribution (T&D) substation projects. The individual will act as a contributor, applying established engineering methods, technical knowledge, and proven technologies to deliver mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design solutions efficiently.
This position is responsible for providing MEP engineering design support across multiple projects within GETS. The incumbent will execute assignments on several medium-sized projects or specific portions of large-scale projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and full compliance with contractual requirements and quality standards. A strong emphasis will be placed on maintaining the highest quality levels while strictly adhering to safety regulations.
What will you do?
- Perform detailed HVAC system design, including load calculations, equipment sizing, duct routing, and ventilation design in compliance with project requirements.
- Design and review electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and cable routing for substation buildings.
- Develop plumbing and drainage systems, including water supply, sewage, stormwater drainage, and firefighting systems as per applicable standards.
- Prepare and review single line diagrams (SLDs), load schedules, panel schedules, and equipment layouts.
- Coordinate closely with primary, secondary and civil engineering teams to ensure alignment of MEP systems with substation equipment and layouts.
- Conduct design reviews and participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings to ensure clash-free and optimized designs.
- Review vendor drawings, technical submittals, and material specifications to ensure compliance with project and contractual requirements.
- Support procurement teams by providing technical inputs, evaluating vendor offers, and assisting in technical bid analysis.
- Perform site inspections and audits to verify installation quality and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Assist in testing, commissioning, and handover activities of MEP systems, ensuring systems operate as per design intent.
- Ensure energy-efficient and sustainable design practices are incorporated into MEP systems wherever applicable.
- Apply relevant international standards such as IEC, BS, NFPA, ASHRAE, and local regulations in all design activities.
- Identify project risks related to MEP scope and proactively propose mitigation measures.
- Maintain proper documentation, revision control, and record of all MEP deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and BIM modelers within the team.
Experience, Education and other Required:
- 12+ years of experience in substation design on MEP.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of professional experience in Building Services / MEP Design.
- Strong proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid technical knowledge of MEP services, with the ability to specialize in Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical, or Plumbing systems.
- Good understanding of BIM workflows, including 3D modelling, coordination, clash detection, and preparation of general arrangement drawings.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards such as IEC, BS, NFPA, ASHRAE and relevant design guidelines.
- Proven experience in preparing engineering deliverables across all project stages, from concept through to detailed design and GFC.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and contract requirements effectively.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
- Exposure to international projects, with experience in UK standards and practices considered an advantage.
- Experience in relevant sectors such as substation buildings, power and electrical infrastructure, or industrial projects is preferred.
