Staff Test Engineer — V93000 Mixed-Signal ATE & Test Architecture

Most test engineers get handed a test plan. In this role, you’d be the one writing it — not for a single device, but for entire product platforms.

Our Global Test Engineering team is the technical backbone behind every product in Semtech’s semiconductor portfolio, working across design, product engineering and offshore manufacturing partners to make sure silicon is fully characterised, robustly tested, and production-ready at scale.

This is a technical leadership seat, not an execution-only role — the strategies and standards you set here ripple out across significant product lines, not just a single project.

Job Summary:

We’re looking for a Staff Test Engineer with deep Advantest V93000 expertise to support test strategy and architecture for significant product lines and technology platforms.

This isn’t about running a test plan someone else designed — you’ll be the one setting the test coverage objectives, building the methodologies, and deciding how the whole organisation approaches test for the platforms under your remit.

You’ll lead complex test program development, drive statistical and adaptive test methods, own test-based yield and quality initiatives, and set the technology roadmap for the test platforms you’re responsible for — all while mentoring engineers and representing test engineering in technical forums and reviews.

If you’ve got 5–7 years of progressive semiconductor test engineering experience on the Advantest V93000 platform and you’ve actually led test development initiatives — not just contributed to them — this is the seat where that leadership finally has a platform-wide remit.

Responsibilities:

Here’s what you’ll actually own, day to day:
• Develop and implement V93000-based test strategies and architectures for significant product lines or technology platforms, aligned to quality and business objectives
• Support and lead on complex test program development for advanced semiconductor devices, including sophisticated test algorithms and measurement techniques
• Implement statistical and adaptive test methods, and provide technical leadership on the hardest test development challenges
• Lead test optimisation initiatives — advanced data analysis, predictive models, and strategies that balance coverage, quality and cost
• Drive reductions in test time and improvements in throughput through continuous improvement of test methods and procedures
• Lead test technology and innovation initiatives, including next-generation test capabilities and technology roadmaps for test platforms
• Lead test-based yield and quality improvement programs, including sophisticated yield analysis, correlation methodologies and outlier detection
• Act as test engineering subject matter expert to product and manufacturing teams, and provide technical mentoring across the test engineering function
• Build collaborative relationships with design, quality and production engineering, and represent test engineering in technical forums and reviews

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; Master’s degree preferred
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in semiconductor test engineering
• Experience leading test development initiatives and optimisation projects
• Advanced knowledge of semiconductor test methodologies, the Advantest V93000 platform, and data analysis techniques

• Experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment required
• Comfortable with moderate travel (10–20% of time) across test facilities, manufacturing sites and customer locations

• Apply expert knowledge of semiconductor test principles, methodologies and technologies, including device physics, parametric testing and failure mechanisms
• Work confidently with test equipment capabilities, languages and programming techniques

• Apply statistical analysis, design of experiments and test optimisation techniques
• Lead test initiatives with strong project leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Communicate and document technical decisions clearly, and think strategically to align test strategies with product objectives
• Draw on strong understanding of quality standards, reliability testing, product qualification and test data/yield analytics
