About the role

The Corporate Security Senior Director has the opportunity to provide strategic direction and manage the output of multiple disciplines within Corporate Security. This position is critical in developing, implementing and managing strategic and tactical planning across the region's security services.

This position is directly responsible for managing complex security improvement programs across the enterprise. The Corporate Security Senior Director plans, develops and implements procedures to obtain, maintain, secure, analyze, account for, and provide information from assessment reports, as well as briefing senior management on status of security issues.

This role has the autonomy and responsibility to execute and drive decisions, often based on limited information, that have a long-term impact across the function.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the formulation of policies and budget procedures for Cigna's security operations to provide the most cost effective security program for the company’s employees and assets commensurate with Cigna’s business goals.
  • Conducts assigned Global Security surveys and investigations for all lines of business and investigations based upon requests, perceived needs, or reliable information from sources within and outside of Cigna, and/or manages such investigations and surveys conducted by contract personnel.
  • Formulates, implements, and manages plans and procedures for the protection of key human resources at home, in the office, or when conducting business outside of the office, as required, including completion of advance protective surveys, protective plans, and investigations of known or perceived threats, and management of protective resources.
  • Directs Cigna's investigations regarding employee safety and the protection of company assets.
  • Directs the development and dissemination of the Cigna security awareness programs to educate employees for their own protection and the protection of company assets.
  • Remains abreast of new technology and trends in the field of security (electronic security, access control, intrusion detection, fire protection systems, etc.) and/or practices that could enhance security or reduce costs.
  • Prepares criminal information, indictments, and other legal documents and renders testimony in court, to support the security needs of Cigna.
  • Plans, manages, and/or conducts armed and/or unarmed protection of key Cigna’s human capital.
  • Maintains close liaison with local, state and federal law enforcement and judicial officials in support of the security and business interests of Cigna.
  • Serves as the internal liaison with Cigna Legal, Safety, Audit, Medical and Risk Management departments on security-related matters.
  • Manages and oversees the contract security workforce enterprise wide.
  • While working abroad, will often act as the sole Cigna security representative while interfacing with all levels of company officials as well as United States and foreign government officials and vendors of security equipment and services.
  • Ability to perform other duties & tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree, major area of study in administration, business, criminal justice or security management is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in law enforcement or private security required.
  • LEOSA certification and/or ability to obtain it required.
  • Experience including the performance of criminal investigations and the performance of executive protection is required.
  • Supervisory responsibilities in both criminal investigation and executive protection of these areas is required
  • In-depth technical knowledge of electronic security and safety, access control, intrusion detection, fire protection systems, current security best practices, techniques, and state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Skilled in protection of dignitaries, security transportation and logistics planning.
  • Budgeting, negotiations and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent human relations skills and oral and written communications skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of investigative techniques, including interview techniques and laws relating to evidence, civil rights and search and seizure.
  • Travel up to 25%; including international.
  • Position is located on site in Bloomfield, CT as a Hybrid role.
