Job Description

Company Overview

Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Job Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated and experienced BIM Senior Engineer I, Civil Structures with a strong background in Revit to lead the implementation and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for our diverse civil structures projects. The ideal candidate will be an expert in leveraging Revit for structural modeling while possessing a comprehensive understanding of the broader civil infrastructure digital toolkit. You will be responsible for driving the development and enforcement of our BIM standards, with a special focus on Revit-centric workflows, managing the BIM process from project inception to completion, and ensuring the successful integration of digital delivery across our civil engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's BIM strategy, with a primary focus on robust Revit standards and workflows for civil structures.
  • Champion the adoption of BIM technologies across all civil engineering disciplines, ensuring seamless integration between Revit and other platforms like Civil 3D.
  • Establish and manage a Common Data Environment (CDE) for all project information, ensuring Revit models and data are central to the project ecosystem.
  • Oversee the BIM process on multiple civil structures projects, from initial planning and design through to construction and as-built documentation, ensuring Revit models are accurately developed and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), clearly defining Revit modeling standards, Level of Development (LOD) requirements, and collaboration procedures.
  • Lead interdisciplinary coordination using federated models, with a strong emphasis on the structural Revit model as a key source of truth.
  • Manage and lead clash detection and resolution meetings, utilizing Navisworks to coordinate Revit models with designs from other disciplines.
  • Serve as the in-house expert for Revit Structure, providing advanced technical guidance and troubleshooting for project teams.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a comprehensive library of standardized Revit families and content specifically for civil structural elements (e.g., bridge components, retaining walls, culverts, foundations).
  • Provide expert support on other key software, including Autodesk Civil 3D, Navisworks, and InfraWorks, while ensuring optimal interoperability with Revit.
  • Mentor project teams on best practices for Revit modeling, work-sharing, and data management.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of BIM coordinators and modelers, with a focus on elevating their Revit skills.
  • Develop and deliver customized training programs to enhance the Revit proficiency of all civil engineering staff, from basic principles to advanced modeling techniques.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, particularly around Revit and digital innovation.
  • Ensure all BIM deliverables, especially Revit models, meet the required level of accuracy, detail, and quality as defined by project and company standards.
  • Conduct regular, rigorous quality control reviews of Revit models and associated documentation.
  • Stay current with the latest versions of Revit, industry add-ins, and emerging BIM technologies and standards, such as ISO 19650.
  • Partners with stakeholders to understand project requirements, specifications, and objectives.
  • Collaborate with civil structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers to integrate utilities, power supplies, and infrastructure into the layout design.
  • Generate 2D and 3D layout drawings, as well as associated documentation and reports, to communicate design concepts and implementation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment during project execution.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of existing plant layouts to identify opportunities for optimization, efficiency enhancement, and cost reduction.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in plant layout design and material handling systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
