The Platform Innovation team is a collection of entrepreneurial engineers that partners directly with both our VP Product & Design and our Co-founder to identify strategic new business opportunities and build innovative solutions for them.

About the Role

DoorDash is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a confidential project. 

Over the past twelve months, the Platform Innovation team, within the Launch Pad organization, has found strong momentum with an emerging product. This year, we’ve assembled a strong cross-functional, entrepreneurial team (lead Designer, lead Product Manager, and General Manager) to take the product to the next level – all that’s left is to hire an engineering leader. We're looking for a leader locally based in Toronto who can commute to the office upon hire.

• Lead and grow a team of exceptional backend and client-side engineers delivering end-to-end engineering solutions
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Business leaders, and key stakeholders to determine the team's roadmap and vision, and manage execution against that roadmap

• Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 9+
• Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking
• Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team

We're excited about you because you have… 

• BS, M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of experience in people management leading full-stack teams (backend, web, & mobile) of 8+ engineers
• 8+ years of industry experience
• Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, product-focused development environment
• Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with Android app development best practices
• Hands-on leadership and strong product intuition
• Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback
• Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting
• Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve
