Using initiative and independent judgement, plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with Clinic policies. Assumes supervisory responsibilities as assigned. Assists physician as directed.Major Job Functions

Administer and record treatment, medications, and therapy as prescribed by physician
Assesses, plans, organizes, implements and evaluates patient care
Functions in supervisory capacity as assigned
Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care/contact per visit and per phone
Assists clerical/receptionist with ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding input to billing and computer center
Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome oriented indicators
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training:
Associates Degree in Nursing required
Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
Current BCLS certification
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding
Work Experience:
Triage experience preferred
6-months work experience in physician's office in a medical support role
Experience and proficiency with IV initiation/administration; phlebotomy, home glucose monitor use, EKGs preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Positive interpersonal skills
Verbal and written skills required
Effective organizational and leadership skills
Physical Requirements:
Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient's needs
Visual and auditory acuity for observation of patients
Much standing, stooping, kneeling, walking, bending and lifting
May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
Ability to work under mental and physical stress is necessary
Must be able to lift 35 pounds
