What you’ll do
The IT Architecture Lead Architect – AI is responsible for architecting and delivering enterprise-grade AI and machine learning solutions that drive measurable business transformation. This role ensures that AI systems are scalable, secure, and deeply aligned with enterprise platforms and strategic objectives.
The Lead Architect manages medium to large work efforts as assigned by leadership, with primary upward interaction directed to their direct leader and executive IT leadership, and regular engagement across peers and other management levels, bringing together deep technical expertise across data science, software engineering, and AI frameworks with the strategic perspective needed to translate complex business challenges into intelligent, high-impact solutions. This includes leading initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, enable predictive insights, and support scalable AI architectures. You will serve as a trusted partner to business and technology stakeholders — gathering requirements, shaping solution approaches, and ensuring delivery teams execute with clarity and precision. You will also play an active role in growing organizational AI capability, mentoring early-career staff and contributing meaningfully to the enterprise AI maturity roadmap.
The IT Architecture Lead Architect - AI is a full-time role located in Southfield, MI reporting to the Head of Architecture. Paid relocation is not available.
- Serves as design authority for AI architecture within Corporate Applications
- AI Model Development: Design, build, and optimize machine learning and deep learning models using frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras.
- Data Engineering & Integration: Develop robust data pipelines and ensure data readiness across business applications (e.g., CRM, ERP, POS) for AI use cases.
- Deployment & Scalability: Lead the deployment of AI models into production environments, ensuring performance, scalability, and compliance with enterprise standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to translate business needs into technical solutions and integrate AI into core business functions
- Oversee and document all aspects of the specific projects that are assigned

What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development, data engineering, data science, or machine learning roles
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience building, training, and deploying machine learning or AI models in a production environment
- 3+ years of experience working with large‑scale data systems (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses, distributed processing frameworks such as Spark)
- 3+ years of experience with Python and at least one ML/AI framework (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn, Hugging Face)
- 2+ years of experience deploying AI/ML solutions to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including CI/CD and MLOps practices
- Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into AI‑driven solutions with measurable outcomes
- Strong capability to influence and partner across functions, driving alignment and outcomes without relying on formal authority with demonstrated commitment to collaboration, inclusion, and professionalism, fostering productive working relationships
- Experience leading complex initiatives and improving processes, tools, or operating models at a functional level
- Sound judgment in identifying, anticipating, and mitigating risk within scope of responsibility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to senior stakeholders
- Highly organized with excellent organizational skills with experience operating in time-sensitive, ambiguous environments, balancing competing priorities with sound judgment and discretion.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, inclusion, and professionalism, fostering productive working relationships
- Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise
- Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday
