Position Overview
If you are excited by the opportunity to work at the intersection of customer engagement, field deployment, and cutting-edge insights solutions, being a Grid Insights Application Engineer at Analog Devices offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact in the fast-growing energy space. You will be the liaison between our customers, test sites, and ADI’s machine learning, software, and systems engineering teams working to solve the hardest problems in energy and on the distribution grid.
This is a cross-functional position bringing hardware, software, data, and algorithms together in real-world customer environments. The role spans hands-on field experimentation, data collection, deployment, field debugging of software and data pipelines, and support for algorithms and insight modules from trial through production deployment. You will help solve complex cross-stack challenges, improve solution performance, and turn customer requirements and field observations into actionable engineering outcomes. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical breadth, a bias for hands-on execution, and a passion for translating innovation into real customer value.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy and support hardware platforms in the field to enable experimentation, data capture, and customer evaluations.
Configure, validate, and debug software and data pipelines used for insights generation, field trials, and customer deployments.
Deploy, test, and troubleshoot insight modules and algorithmic solutions in ADI labs and at customer sites.
Partner closely with machine learning, software, and systems engineering teams to diagnose issues, improve solution performance, and define technical next steps.
Translate customer requirements, deployment feedback, and field observations into actionable recommendations for product and solution improvement.
Resolve complex cross-stack issues spanning hardware, software, data, and algorithms in customer-facing environments.
Support field trials and production deployments with strong technical execution, communication, and customer focus.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with 6+ years of relevant industry experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience spanning hardware, software, and algorithm development, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
Strong hands-on experience with field deployment, experimentation, or applied engineering in real-world environments.
Solid foundation in signal processing, machine learning, and algorithms,
Experience building, deploying, and debugging data acquisition and processing pipelines.
Experience with embedded systems, sensing platforms, or small-scale hardware deployments, including system bring-up, instrumentation, and data collection.
Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or similar languages for prototyping, debugging, and deployment support.
Experience in an Applications Engineer, customer-facing engineering, or technical customer experience role
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to succeed in fast-paced, customer-driven environments.
Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments while providing strong technical leadership and execution.
Experience with electrical grids, power systems a plus
Requirements:
This role may require occasional travel to customer sites, ADI locations, or partner facilities. (20%)
