The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer I shall be responsible for performing ultrasound imaging and related procedures as prescribed by physicians under the direction of a radiologist and/or cardiologist with little supervision.

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer I - Radiology – Flex Overnight
This is a full-time position at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital located at 1980 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, upper Westchester County, N.Y. This position is for 11pm-7am with alternating Saturdays, but may have variable start times based on operational needs, including, but not limited to, weekends and holidays. (Week 1: Tues-Sat 11pm-7am, Week 2: Mon-Fri 11pm-7am) 
Required Criteria
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Sonography) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer, Cardiovascular Credentialing International, or eligible. (Employees have 12 months from date of hire to become certified.)
  • Knowledge of medical diagnostic sonography, usually obtained by being a graduate of the committee of allied health education and accreditation (CAHEA) accredited sonography program (program length 9 months to two years) or equivalent required. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, patient family members, physicians, and other health care providers.
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate and perform diagnostic ultrasound exams.
  • Organizational skills necessary to plan and implement several procedures simultaneously and to coordinate work within the unit and department.
  • Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
Preferred Criteria
  • Prior experience in an inpatient setting
  • At least 1 year of experience

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
